Will the old motion sensor work with the new system. I see the old door sensors will not, but nobody has mentioned the old motion sensors. Or when they say v1 sensor, they mean both the door and the motion sensor?
Thanks
Or $129 (SimpliSafe 7-Piece Home Security System). This may be a limited deal, but it and similar are regularly available. If this could be connected to Wyze, or the other way around, would get it done.
Do I understand that we will still have to pay an extra $1.25/$2 per camera for CamPlus after the first?
The webpage indicates it will work with all your cameras - " Put Wyze Cams everywhere. You can put Wyze Cams everywhere instead of just in one room. Theyāre only $20." It doesnāt seem to say that many of the features only apply for the one camera with CamPlus.
I got excited when I saw this, because it seemed to answer my request for a home license rather than per-device license. Now that seems to be incorrect. The ā5 cams for $100ā with CamPlus is actually $160 - $100 for the cams, and $60 for the CamPlus, if bought annually.
V1 sensors include any previous sensor before these new ones. So yes, it means both the motion sensors and contact sensors (window/door sensors) that were available before now. These old sensors will still āworkā as they always have, but will NOT be able to work as being able to set off the alarm system.
Most everything you said is correct. A couple of clarifications:
V1 cams wonāt work with this system, but those havenāt been sold in a long time.
Video Doorbell cam wonāt work right away, but will be added later.
Yes, the HMS system includes one license of Cam Plus already, so if you want all 5 cams in the HMS system to have Cam Plus (which isnāt required), you would need to buy 4 more licenses separately (so yearly version would be $15*4=$60/yr more as you saidā¦in addition to the $60/yr for the HMS subscription. You donāt need to have Cam Plus on the cameras, they will still work and can store footage locally, and allow motion notifications and 12 second event storage to the cloud once every 5 minutes, and still be viewable live by the professional security monitors, etc. they just wonāt have all motion footage in the cloud, or person detection, pet, package, vehicle, or other AI detection included except on the one cam you put Cam Plus on. So, donāt feel obligated to include cam plus on each camera, Iāve used them for months and months without any cam plus and they work fine and will still work fine in the security system, just not have fancy AI object detection labeling.
You also donāt need to order 5 cams, or even any cams at all if you donāt want any. It will still work great without cams. I mean, you might as well at least get one to watch the front of your house so you can see who comes up on your house, record their face or other features, etc. especially since you get 1 license of cam plus includedā¦but there is no need to buy 5 or even 1 if you donāt already have them.
Just clarifying.
@UserCustomerGwen Iāve seen it asked, but not answered (correct me if Iāve missed it). If after the first year (maybe 30 days based on the FAQ) you cancel the monitoring service, will all the devices continue to work as a āself monitoredā system? Will you lose functionality in the āMonitoringā tab of the app?
Thanks for all the cool stuff you guys are doing @ Wyze
From what has been said in the FAQās, and clarifications from Wyze, it appears the answer is that if you cancel the subscription, you will lose access to the Monitoring tab and HMS Alerts and Alarms that are specific to the HMS system, including, obviously, the āProfessional Monitoringā from Noonlight. You will still be able to use the Hub and the sensors as normal Wyze devices with Wyze notifications the same as you can V1 sensorsā¦so you can self-monitor in that way just as you can with the V1ās. It has not been clarified if the Siren functionality will also be disabled or not, since that is intended to be used as part of the HMS. The reason this is complicated is as follows:
Imagine someone has HMS, but they only use half their sensors for the HMS tab, and keep others out of the HMS system so they donāt create dispatch alarms (including some V2ās and all their V1 sensors which arenāt allowed to use the HMS anyway). If Wyze then allowed the non-HMS sensors to use the siren, how would the home owner know if the siren was an HMS alert, or one of the non-HMS sensors? This could be problematic. So it is likely Wyze disables the Siren for non-HMS active sensors to avoid such problems and confusions of the siren going off when it is not an HMS alert. This sucks for people who want to self-monitor, but itās also a logical decision to give preference to those who are paying the subscription, to have the best experience possible without needless confusion. So, donāt get your hopes up too much for having siren access if you arenāt paying for HMSā¦itās probably not a greedy ploy as much as it is a decision for giving the best user experience for itās primary intended purposeā¦while still allowing everyone else who doesnāt want the system to still have access to the sensors and get traditional normal app notifications for themā¦Wyze maybe could have their non-HMS dedicated sensors activate the sirens on the V3 or Doorbell chime instead of the HMS hub so they still have some options? IDK, that could still confuse HMS users if the siren is similar to the HMS siren. Weāll have to see. That hasnāt been answered yet.
Either a glass break sensor or updated Wyze cam software that can hear glass breaking is a must. 23% of home burglaries happen through an open or broken window. This is a must for a home security system.
I have a question nobody has raised or answered:
@UserCustomerGwen
Why do we have pictures of everything included in the starter kit EXCEPT for the 2 Window decals?
I looked everywhere for it. I watched the video multiple times, all over the page for the HMS, the FAQās, everything. Thereās no hint of it. Has it not been designed yet? Can you post it somewhere? Is it just going to be simple and include one of these logos?
(I pulled those off the HMS page/monitoring tab). Will it say anything else?
I have in-built sensors on all my windows and doors (new house). Will Wyze be able to leverage those by any chance or is the Wyze system completely independent and only works with itās own sensors?
Completely independent.
Iām glad this is answered; I asked my homeowners insurance company the same question, and received the same answer about needing to obtain an alarm certficate.
This information available should be on the product page up front in BOLD and in the FAQ, as it IS a selling point and will save customers money. The discount may be enough to cover the annual costs or more.
@pacabill
Info about the certificate is on the main page:
And in the FAQās. In fact, itās the very first FAQ at the very top:
People just donāt read them.
I still hope youāre wrong.
Wyze has stated that the 4.99/Month fee is for the Professional Monitoring,
24/7 professional monitoring
$4.99/month
I havenāt seen stated that paying the fee allows you to use the app, and that canceling your suscription you would lose access to the Monitoring tab and HMS Alerts. I would hope that canceling the suscription would be akin to using the HMS in ātesting modeā.
That would be awesome. I would cancel my subscription and never pay for this system anymoreā¦as would many, many others Iām sure (in fact, I actually plan to just leave it in practice mode indefinitely so I keep all the functionality without ever using the call center repsā¦but if I can get all that for free, then Iām in).
But I very, very highly doubt it. Theyāve been pretty clear for months now, and since it was first announced this summer, and in the multiple surveys I took for them about this before launch, that professional monitoring was a requirement with this. Over and over again they kept reiterating that:
āA professional monitoring experience is requiredā
That makes it easy for me to read between the lines that if you donāt have the āREQUIREDā professional monitoring, you lose a lot of the other features that come with it all too.
Then there are the separate comments and FAQās about how they will allow people to use the sensors outside of the HMS to act as normal sensors. And that people who want to do this without a subscription will eventually be allowed to buy them, also implying they canāt be used in the HMS tab without the subscription.
I am still happy they have promised will allow us to use the sensors without a subscription at all
Again, I would REALLY, REALLY love to be wrong and for you to be right, it would save me $60/yrā¦but I just canāt see any way they would reasonably go for that after everything theyāve already saidā¦Still, Iāll root for you to win this one, because Iām totally all for it too.
I agree with what @carverofchoice has said. I would love it to be self monitored without a subscription as well. If it costs WYZE to offer professional services through Noonlight (which it does)ā¦and if thatās something I need, then I would absolutely pay for it. I love WYZE and want them to succeed. However, my plan was to wait for their home monitoring solution to come out and monitor myself without paying for the Noonlight services simply because I live in a fairly low risk area. In another thread a forum moderator asked in the background and gave me the following response:
I then asked him to confirm whether or not the hardware then essentially becomes useless i.e., no āModesā or keypad to arm the system (other than the hub connecting the sensors up), and he hasnāt respondedā¦but I donāt see how any of that could be used without the Monitoring tab to control it.
I totally hope they will open up the HMS to be used without Noonlight for free, but as @carverofchoice mentions, they have been mentioning that there will be a fee with it from the beginning. Iām still hopeful theyāll open it up for free, but if not, Iāll just then have to decide if itās actually worth having that service and hardware or if I should just go back to using their sensors in the Classic WYZE App to turn notifications on when my whole family leaves and turn them off when the first person arrives using the Google Home app and a WYZE switch.
@MWPollard and @carverofchoice
Please excuse the interruption.
So then⦠Wyze āwillā be including the front door bell to be part of the system at some point?
Long Point:
I ask because of similar situations like ā when we were personally told by Gwendolyn shortly after receiving the outdoor camera came out specific features would be worked into firmware that havenāt ever appeared.
I donāt want, NOR like that sort of thing to keep happening! Some of these pre-ordered products/purchases MUST rely on honest candor regarding features. If I base a purchase on what Iāve been told about an upcoming feature ā first, there needs to be a reasonable time line for it to come to fruition, AND second, Wyze needs to hold true to their word.
I think both of you were discussing SimpliSafeās system, which weāve considered. I noticed they have TWO motion sensors, whereas I believe Wyze is including only one? If true⦠thatās too bad. Even our modest home has three levels, which I would prefer having all three having coverage.
Lastly:
I thinkI read someone said that the current Wyze Lock, and Lock Keypad will NOT be integrated into the security system. True? When Wyze came out with those products I thought for SURE (at the time) those would be part of any potential security system. If true - Wyze is very SADLY missing a very key point.
SO⦠is it true the lock and keypad wonāt work be part security system?
OH⦠BTW:
Wonder how that will work with Cam+ and AI. You guys know how all this will work for customers who are grandfathered with AI? (the name your price)
I apologize for my lack of response, I just have yet to get an answer to the point I am willing to say I am positive. I do not work for them so I do not have all the info, but I am trying to get info. I will post as soon as I can say for sure and not have to worry about having to eat my words. I try to be careful about the answers I post. I am still digging into this though.
This is not completely true, the existing lock will be integrated soon (I do not have an official ETA) the keypad I will have to do some digging on
Well, ok. Letās hope itās true. If you read my post (?) ⦠weāre STILL waiting for features to come to the outdoor cam I was promised months ago were on their way.
In regards to the keypad⦠I would think if the lock is integrated, the lock keypad would also. (youād think?) I see the lock keypad function being separate than that of the security systemās keypad.
