Wyze Thermostat - Motion sensor stopped working

Installed my Wyze Thermostat about 2 weeks ago. I had a friend that is a professional hvac guy come over and install it so I knew it would be done right.
Worked perfectly for about a week, then I noticed the display does not light up when I walk in front of it. I searched online and looked at the app to see if it was just turned off, but haven’t found any information yet.
I have reset the power to the entire unit, also double checked the wiring connections but all seems fine.
Other than the motion sensor everything else seems to be working as expected.
Any ideas of what else to check?

Make sure you have removed the protection film on the thermostat.
