Wyze Robot Vacuum - The upcoming Multi-floor Mapping update is even better!

I’m in the same boat, I got the beta app, i joined the beta program but I’m still not seeing the multi floor button on the app, its very frustrating because if you carry the vac to your second floor it will get confused and start thinking its somewhere else.

When they beta came out it was a limited beta. They are still working on getting it out to everyone.

2nd Update: I received the new unit explained in previous post. Received it within 4 days from the offer to replace ( :+1:). I uninstalled the iOS app, reinstalled the app (most updated iOS), signed into existing Wyze account, placed the new unit at the charger, added new device within the app. During charging to 100% I tried to update the firmware past the existing 1.6.113… no such Luck. So, I guess it’s not a hardware issue.

As WyzeJasonJ mentions in this post… I guess we’ll just have to be patient. If any other moderator or team experts can let us know when the firmware update is expected… Please chime in. Some of us regular customers need the multi floor function.

I’ve had the beta a long time but haven’t used it much on multiple floors. I have 3 maps for each of my floors. I have two questions though:

  1. Do I need to select the map in the app before starting a clean cycle or will it figure it out itself?

  2. If there is no base to return to on that floor, how long will the vac look for it? I stopped it manually after a few minutes.

I only have 2 levels mapped. The map where the charging station is located is the main map. When using vacuum on the other level I move the vacuum then change maps to that level. When vacuuming is complete I change maps back to where charging station is located and manually locate vacuum to that level. Vacuum then returns to station to charge.

I cant even get mutlilevel mapping to show up

I think there are a ton of us that can’t get it to show up. I really wish I could though! I’m waiting anxiously for that feature to be available to me! Absolutely love the vacuum otherwise.

it has been a year and Wyze is not giving us a clear answer to when this will be a feature that is available, i can’t even tell you why its not already since its working for the majority.

Yeah it’d be really nice if a Wyze rep could respond here with an ETA… even if it’s going to be another 6 months, I’d rather know so I can stop waiting anxiously.

Wyze has actually publicly discussed why long-awaited global WRV firmware updates have been delayed more than they wish.

The short version is that the primary firmware update they want to send out causes issues with some of the vacuums that are on various beta branches of firmware. So if/when they push the update through, it is likely to cause some of those people’s vacuums to go non-responsive. Wyze wants to prepare in advance as much as they can to reduce the negative impact for those this may happen to, so they are coordinating a response with their logistics team with the primary goal to mitigate the risk (the biggest reason there is a delay on this), and secondly to make the best experience they can for anyone who ends up experiencing a non-responsive vacuum when this is implemented.

It is frustrating for the people that this is taking longer than we would all like, but at the same time, I am glad they are planning in advance for known potential issues to help resolve negative impact as quickly as possible. Let us all imagine for a moment if our vacuum was one of the ones that end up going non-responsive when the update comes through. I expect that we would all want that to be resolved as quickly and seemlessly for us as possible and will likely be glad that such preparation was in place for us. Obviously we’d prefer our vacuum not to have problems in the first place, but a good response will be welcome if we are among those who do experience an issue. :crossed_fingers:

I expect they’ll push this firmware through soon enough once they feel they have enough replacements, etc in place. Then I am guessing they will move the firmware from Alpha to a new Beta and handle those situations first, learn from it, possibly make some adjustments to the plan or firmware if they learn anything significant, then possibly push it out to a wider audience. I think they are wise to play it slowly and carefully if they’re anticipating some likely complications with a few devices (even if the vast majority will be fine and those with responsivity issues will be relatively rare, they want to resolve as many as absolutely possible.

So In a nutshell they have discussed it, found some conflicts with older and different Betas, supposedly they’re working on it and we may see it later rather than sooner…have I got that right {condensed version}

I don’t know the timeline, it could happen at any time now. I don’t know how long they’ve been working on it or what needs to be in place, so it could actually be sooner rather than later.

I would say the short version is:

They’ve told us they’re looking to push a firmware update to get everyone back on the same track, but their tests indicated there could be some complications for a few users. As soon as they feel best prepared to manage those outliers they will move forward with the update.

It could happen any time…for a year! This is unacceptable and people are tired of excuses. They screwed us on cameras already. No more Wyze.

Im with @Michael00 on this. It feels a lot like google integration. Wyze unfortunately has a history of abandoned plans. They’ve TOLD us a lot of things. But I appreciate the optimism

My feedback is

  1. Be sure to ask to verify what floor is being cleaned before starting pop up.
  2. Will schedule assume 1st floor
    3 Do not allow schedule to start unless docked.

@WyzeHongfei @WyzeJasonJ how can I get this features? I would like to use this beta feature. Looks interesting…

@bhavinvshah27
Currently there are a few different branches of beta firmware that need to be merged, for one of the beta branches this is a risky update that could result in a portion of them to become unresponsive, for this reason we want to make sure we have systems in place to take care of anyone impacted with a minimum of trouble on the customers part. Once we have that all in place we will move forward and everyone will finally have access to these features.

@WyzeJasonJ any updates on merging these firmwares?

Sorry. I’ve heard nothing about it.

It’s all I want for Christmas
