WYZE price hike for a 4-camera cam-plus plan is a horrid - I went with cam unlimited plan instead

I had been paying either $30 or $40 a year for a 4-camera Cam-Plus subscription. I received an email stating the price was going up to $29.99 a year per camera. That equates to roughly $120 a year for four cameras. Needless to say, I changed over to the unlimited camera plan for $99 a year.

I noticed after upgrading to this plan, via the WYZE web portal, there is a button to cancel my cam-plus lite subscription. In fact, WYZE recommends that I do so. Based on previous reading here, there is NO WAY I’ll be clicking that button to cancel my cam-plus lite subscription. Some day, when WYZE randomly decides to triple or quadruple the price yet again, I will fall back to my cam-plus lite subscription on the cameras that support it.

Makes sense. At $29.99 per camera, Unlimited comes out cheaper as soon as you have four cameras, and any cam you add later is covered without another charge. Keeping Lite in place as a fallback seems smart too, since it’s free and there’s no upside to cancelling it.

I talked to several people who would like to upgrade to Cam Unlimited Pro (or even just use a temporary 2 week or 1 month trial), but avoid doing that specifically because it automatically cancels Cam Plus Lite, and so if they ever switch off that pro plan and want to use lite for a while, it’s too late because it’s now gone forever and no longer available to sign up for.

This has actually caused Wyze to lose some money. People who otherwise would’ve paid them double in subscriptions, now refrain from upgrading because they don’t want to lose something they’re unlikely to ever use again anyway. I think it’s an absurd and crazy policy implementation that is holding them back unnecessarily.
