Wyze Plug on then off

I am using Wyze plug for Christmas lights. When I turn on the plug from Wyze app it comes on and then within 2 seconds both plugs turn off even though there is still power to the unit?

If I turn them on again or turn them on at the plug, same thing happens … lights come on then go off …

Suggestions?

Too much load or short? See what happens when you disconnect the lights and turn the plug on with no load.

In addition to @Seapup’s suggestion, I’d also check for anything like a Wyze app Automation or Google Home Routine that might reference the Plug (Plug Outdoor?) and run some kind of rule like “if Plug has been on for 2 seconds, then turn Plug off”.

I’m not saying that you did something like that, but I move Plugs and Plug Outdoors from time to time to repurpose them, so I wouldn’t put it past myself to be frustrated by overlooking something like that. My hypothetical money’s on @Seapup’s advice, though.

Same issue with no load. A replacement spare is working.

I checked for automations and Alexa routines … none. … definitely worth the check.

If the plug works when you manually press the physical buttons but doesn’t work via the app, try doing a factory reset described here:

I’m really curious about why this is happening, because my interpretation of the initial post was that pressing the physical buttons on the Plug Outdoor resulted in the same automatic-power-off behavior as using the app, but a factory reset definitely seems like the next logical thing to try.

I brought the plug in overnight. I tried it again tonight. It worked for about 2 hours. Then rain started again and it shutdown so looks like a short with water getting in?

That seems as good an explanation as any at this point.
