Wyze Lamp socket in enclosed fixture?

can the wyze lamp socket be used in an enclosed fixture? I do not want to use it for cam, I want to use it to control the cieing enclosed light bulb in fixture.

also there is no tag for the wyze lamp socket so I used plug & switch…

arggghh … just wasted a $100 on 2 wyze lamp sockets. :bulb::face_with_spiral_eyes:

So a Wyze lamp socket cannot be used without a cam. :upside_down_face::face_with_raised_eyebrow::face_with_monocle:

I thought the plug was optional for a cam but is is ,andatory for a cam. I repeat … argggghhh.

sigh. oh well.

found this. works with Alexa. May be able to use with Wyze Motion sensor with it to turn lights on in enclosed fixtures that cannot use wyze bulbs. checking re heat issues…

Sort of. You have to have at least one lamp socket connected to a camera, then other lamp sockets can be linked to that primary socket in an enclosed fixture. But as you realized, at least one of them needs a camera because that is how these get their internet capabilities.

I should have read further. Oh well into the box of ‘stuff’ in case this becomes necessary in the future as I had recycled the boxes so cannot send them back. new rule… don’t throw away the box until … was an old rule, but was cleaning up the workshop.
