Well the vanilla v3 or pan are a basic cam for general needs. I, like quite a few others, have suggested and wondered aloud WHY no TEMP/HUMIDITY? Yes, higher res is nice but with the bandwidth being what it is, we won’t get the framerate we want if we have higher res. I too like high res but I personally want the higher framerate. Anyone else want Temp / Humitidty?
Anyway the issue with all these “cloud cams” is compression. Honestly 1080P even at 20FPS would be more than enough for most people but the over 99% compression ratio is what kills it.
For comparison my dash cams are only 720P and 20FPS, but they record about 10x more data (significantly less compression) and there is never any issue reading license plates even on moving/oncoming cars, faces are clear, etc.
One feature I’ve always wanted to see is Wyze allowing a lower compression ratio for stuff recorded to SD card. And with RTSP slowly making its way back, that could also be allowed to run higher quality. But I suspect the cams just wouldn’t be able to handle maintaining two different streams like that.
That’s one I’ve always wanted too. You can do 2x and 4x FF/RW on cloud video clips if you have a subscription, but not from the SD card. It would make reviewing the videos much easier. Not sure if it is a hardware limitation or just not something that has gotten development funding (obviously they want to focus on stuff that will sell new cams and new subscriptions).
I’ve been using the same LA Crosse WIFI weather station for at least 8 years, it is a 5.5 x 5.5 inch display.
The sensor for outdoors requires one AA battery once every 18 months. The display has indoor temp/humidity and it uses 4 AA batteries every two years. Don’t give WYZE anymore ideas to break the cameras.
I think “can” and “will” are different things, and I don’t know why they haven’t chosen to do this, especially since that request (and others) have been on their radar for so long and with so many customers wanting it.
I’ve gotten much more use out of the Headphones than I expected to and initially bought those only because I wanted the Buds and they were on a deal together at the time. I don’t have the Robot Vacuum, but if they released one with a user-accessible Cam I’d be interested.
Use the right tool for the job. My mom has a nearly identical La Crosse unit and yeah, I’d trust its readings much more than some 20 cent sensor put in a wyze cam.
