Wyze Employee Spotlight - Baohua Zhu

Hi, everyone!

I’m excited to say that our very own @WyzeBaohua was requested by our beloved community as an Employee Spotlight! Please give a warm welcome to this familiar face.

Name: Baohua Zhu
Pronouns: He/him/his
Team: Product Engineering Team
Role: Product Engineer

1. Why did you choose Wyze (Why Wyze)?

When I was a graduate student at the University of Washington Electrical and Computer Engineering department, I attended a deep learning capstone project supervised by Wyze called “Package Theft Detection on Wyze Cams”. From working on this project, I learned a lot about Wyze and was impressed by Wyze’s value to make smart technology accessible to everyone and the energy of this company. So I applied to the Product Engineer position at Wyze at the end of the capstone project and I never regretted it.

2. What team are you on and what do they do?

I work on the Product Engineering Team. The major focuses on our team are Product Quality, Product Integrations, Data and Metrics, Platform App, and Release Management. We are aiming to deliver products with higher quality and better experiences to our valued customers. We work with different teams to provide the Wyze experience on the platform level and bring high-quality products to all Wyze customers.

3. How long have you been with Wyze and what do you do here?

I’ve been at Wyze for 4 months as a Product Engineer. My responsibility is to monitor and improve the quality of Wyze products. My job includes collecting feedback and information from our customers, monitoring and creating metrics for the quality of our products, and solving engineering problems with our developers. In these 4 months, I received lots of valuable feedback, suggestions, and help from our amazing users in different social platforms that helped me a lot to solve problems and make improvements for our products. I sincerely appreciate all of you who gave us feedback!

4. What’s your favorite thing about working at Wyze?

This is my first job after graduating from school and I love everything at Wyze from my daily work to my wonderful team. My favorite thing about working at Wyze is to dive into and solve problems. I enjoy the problem-solving process and I also love to improve user experiences by improving our products.

5. How have Wyze product(s) impacted your life?

Before joining Wyze, I didn’t have many IoT devices in my home and my impression of IoT devices was that they’re expensive. I joined Wyze and saw how much heart we put into building our products and trying to make the IoT devices accessible to everyone. That has inspired me to use Wyze products in my own life and now my home is full of IoT devices. I enjoy using Wyze devices every day especially using Wyze Cam v3 to monitor my garage.

I would like to echo what @spamoni stated. @WyzeBaohua is one of my favorite Wyze employees! I did not know you’d only been here 4 months, but man have you been active in beta forums and requesting logs and looking into things and actively seeking out solutions and helping, even sending DM’s for information when applicable. I have been IMPRESSED man, truly. You seriously represent the company so well! It is so great to finally see a picture of what you look like.

Seriously, I am so happy that you got the spotlight. I have felt so comfortable that I could let you know something going on or ask questions or whatever and that you will actually seriously take that info and do something with it and handle things. I mean, I swear I just barely reported something to you last week and you got the info from me, and next thing I know today there are updates for it. THANK YOU for doing your job well and checking out things reported in the forums and caring and figuring things out. I’m glad Wyze has obviously recognized that you’re a valuable employee and is acknowledging that with this spotlight. Please keep up the great work, there are many of us in the community here who are so grateful that you are actively looking for things you can help coordinate resolutions for! I hope you stay with Wyze for a very long time!
