I originally stuffed a wyze v3 cam into an old broken doorbell, and was using it before wanting to purchase a new doorbell. I wanted one that could see when packages were delivered and have a better FOV.
The detection on it was great and would always capture someone in the line of sight, the duo cam? I am having a hard time getting it to detect anything. The area marked in red is what will always trigger an event, but if moving too quick or going to the shop in the dark area there it never triggers…
I am confused as to why it is so terrible in terms of seeing motion despite max sensitivity, latest firmware, hard wired/continuous recording, wyze plus, record all motion, etc. it only seems to record “person” most of the time and never motion, despite my settings.
Does anyone else have this problem? And if so, did you fix it? I got this camera for peace of mind, now I don’t know if it’s working most of the time.
Excellent post with all the screenshots. 1 screen is missing, “Notifications” although it usually mirrors event recording selections. Also in the app for Notifications is Push Notifications still turned on. Although I must admit, 1 of my duos works great and 1 is a bit finicky with detections, ironically my front doorbell as well. Reset services, restarting or an infrequent setup (as new) helps but doesn’t last.
Yeah I’ve had all that on, and it’s extremely hit or miss, as motion sort of works? Just really rare, it does work if I open my door but that’s about it.
I have been testing the detection and have noticed two things.
It’s really slow to have the notifications pop up, usually up to 8/10 seconds, and also the time it takes to actually start recording. Sometimes its when they’re almost past the door and others there’s pre footage but that’s rare.
Just so strange for my makeshift wyze doorbell camera to work perfectly, but their actual doorbell product is iffy.
Your settings are a bit weird, you’ve turned off pet and vehicle but have “other motion” on. And your recording is set to all events, not smart, so you’re using a bit of a mix of smart and “dumb”.
How is the wifi quality where it is mounted? Is it a metal door that may be blocking the signal? Smart detections require the ability to quickly upload to Wyze servers for analysis, and if that doesn’t happen, you won’t get an alert (or will get a delayed one if it happens slowly).
Would be curious to see how it behaves if you disable all the smart stuff and just use “other”, which might help confirm if it is a detection problem or a bandwidth problem. Every video it has to upload also can cause things to backlog, even if it isn’t doing any smart detection. Do you have an SD card to see if things are recorded there that aren’t sent to the cloud?
Well the two turned off was only just the notify for pet and vehicle, but the tag is still on. I’m not sure that would matter, but you never know.
The wifi seems okay? How do I test other than a speed test? It’s on 2.4 not 5g and in front of my apartment door the speed doesn’t drop at all, plus it’s a solid wood door not metal.
How do I disable all that? Do I just keep it to All Events and then turn off everything (tag and notify) in Customize Detections?
