Wyze Doorbell Fuse Wire

if u only have 1 doorbell, you probably have 1 transformer

Thanks Ken, just checked both chimes, they look identical, or are they master and slave?

looks like one chime is daisey chained off the other. If I had to guess, the 2nd pic is the 1st chime, and the 1st pic is the 2nd. It looks like you have the fuse installed at the 1st chime. Does the Wyze doorbell work? If you are having issues, at the fuse, I would just disconnect the 2nd chime, so basically you’d have a dead cable running between the 1st & 2nd chime.

Yes, that is correct, second picture is the one from the foyer chime and the doorbell is working.

I wasn’t sure if the fuse wire is really needed so did the installation for the doorbell and it was working perfectly. Curiosity for the fuse wire landed me to this forums and stumbled on this thread and decided to connect the fuse wire and was wondering how to take care off the second chime box.

the doorbell will work without the fuse, it’s just a safety device in case the transformer malfunctions & sends 110v down the line. The fuse would blow if that happened.

Truly appreciate your analysis! I will disconnect second chime.

Hi,

I know live in France, will it work under 220v ?

Thanks for your help.

Here is my Door Chime… 6 wires! so one set black and white come from transformer - another set comes from back door bell button - 3 set from front door bell button… if im only going to use the front door bell then do I connect the white wire from there and the white wire from transformer & then black wire from front door bell to black wire from transformer and the put the Wyze fuse/jumper wire between those the combined white and black wires?

I have 3 wires, one set is back door. Use the fuse or what

I didn’t have to deal with an existing doorbell when I wired mine, but I did find some helpful info that might help you determine which two wires are for that door:

Good Luck!

I’m trying to change an existing wyze doorbell in my aunts new place so I’m following the instructions as if I’m doing a new install. The doorbell did not ring the chime at all, so I reset it to clear the existing settings. I checked the old wall chimes to check the fuse- and one was never installed and the 2 wires were never connected together. So I’m not sure if the wyze doorbell ever worked at all. I’m actually a bit shocked that the original doorbell chimes can’t be used anymore. I have two wired Ring doorbells (front door/back door) in my own home and I just took off the old push button, hooked up the wires to the Ring and they worked perfectly using my existing house chime. No plug in chime was needed.

I was wondering about this how do you bypass the existing doorbell chime if you want to install a wyze doorbell camera on the front door and the back door do you wire the front and the back wires together and then connect that wire to the transformer wire or do you use two separate wires and wire them both together with the transformer wire I’m not sure I could use some help before I try to install these

How you wire them will depend on your layout, preference, where the transformer is located, if your front door and back door already have pre-wired doorbell push buttons, etc.

Generally speaking, the transformer should power both without any issues so long it is providing 10VA or more. Using the existing wiring is always the best choice since it already travels to the transformer. However, if you do have to run new wire, you have choices based on what is the easiest and most cost effective. You can (1) run a dedicated set of wires to each; or (2) run a single set from the transformer to Bell (A) and then another single set from Bell (A) to Bell (B) [series]; or (3) run a single set from the transformer to a point between the two bells (junction) and then a single set wire nutted to the junction to each bell [parallel].

I am installing my front door camera. On chime box i have two wire set up. I do not have the fuse wire that it shows you to connect each wire to…if i dont have this, what do i need to do?
