Very confusing email lol
It looks like a DJI Robomaster … thought it was for real

They can’t get a vacuum to operate in 2D space so anything that flies is right out.
The robomaster still operates in 2D space ![]()
Was replying to JBDragon’s post on the flying Ring drone, not you.
The Robomaster uses a type of Omni-Wheel. The tires on this look like standard knobby offroad tires, such as would be on an RC Buggy, which the steering and suspension in the picture resemble. More than likely, this is a modified toy RC offroad car. (Even the skid in the front of the chassis looks like it’d from an offroad vehicle…)
It surely isn’t an Associated or Losi class buggy, but then I’m sure it isn’t designed to win races.
Correct. Those are actually called Meccanum wheels. Like the omni, they belong to the ‘holonomic’ wheels group.
I already have the RoboMaster … not interested in a look-alike vehicle, unless it’s way cheaper than the Robomaster. (ok to dream)
However, what I’d really like to see is a PanCam v3. Any idea if that’s even in the works?
If it’s real, what I get from the email is that it’s just an app controlled toy RC car, set up to hold and power a V2. V1 isn’t mentioned, because there are a lot more V2s being replaced than V1s recently.
On battery life, toy RC cars only have battery life measured in minutes anyway, running the camera is only going to be a few % of the load on the battery.
If they accept payment, they have to deliver, right? As for battery life, I’ll bet they can deliver that too?
So stay tuned? 8 AM PT, 11 AM ET. 'Till then, it’s all guesswork!
Tempting to stay up all night and wait in line to be the first to get one of those toys …
No … never mind … this is not black friday ![]()
Well, I think it is a great product. I made a makeshift one a while ago. I had one of these track robots with a wifi camera on it. Turned ou the Wyze did a better job. Anyway, quite a practical mobile camera platform. However, a wheeled vehicle was faster than tracked version. So while it may be a joke, the product has good use. I could use a few of them.
Unless the “concealed remote” was a hidden interface as an easter egg inside the existing app. Which would be cool.

Well apparently it’s real. Alrighty then.
All the tech specs are up, if you know the link (I guessed correctly).

I guess thats why they call it a community maybe?
Looks like the joke is on me! I patiently waited, set an alarm for the next opportunity. I clicked the button immediately, and it’s out of stock. I’ve now wasted an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out if this is real, seeing teasers that it might be, waiting for the ordering to open again, just to be hit with the out of stock. So what was the point of the countdown?! I’m done. I’m here for technology, not stupid time wasting games. Hope it was worth the laugh, I’m off to research other cameras.
Edit: I tried again. It still said there were 216 cameras left from this block of 5,000. I hit order, I get an out of stock error.
