Is there a way to set the V4 Siren to go off automatically? I have read online to find “Rules” and I cannot find that on my cams in the app. The only way I am seeing to use the siren is manually, which kind of defeats the purpose in most cases. I also have Cam Plus. Is there any way to do this, please?
Wyze changed “Rules” to “Automations” when they released the v3x app last summer, so I think what you’re describing is that you want an Automation to make the siren sound based on some kind of detection. If that’s the case, then you want to tap the upper-right ➜ Automation ➜ Device & Service Trigger. Then set it up something like this:
- IF
- Cam v4
- Detects motion
- Cam v4
- DO
- Cam v4
- Turn on the siren
- Cam v4
With a Cam Plus subscription, you could also choose other options for the trigger, like “Detects a person” or “Detects a pet”. I believe the siren turns itself off after ~30 seconds.
Hopefully that gets you started. If you provide more detail about what you’re trying to accomplish, then that might help others to provide better assistance.
Thank you so much. Excellent information. I found Do and selected Turn On Siren for the 2 outside cams, but how do I know what will trigger the siren on. Maybe I want to have the siren go off if it detects a person. I didn’t see a way to choose or write to go off when it detects a person.
That’s what you select for the IF section. You tap the in that section, then select whatever camera you want to use as a trigger, and then select something like “Detects a person” and tap the Save button.
You can also set a schedule in the WHEN section if you want the trigger to operate only on certain days or at certain times during the day.
If you want both cameras to sound their sirens whenever either one of the cameras detects a person, then you would create two separate Automations: one Trigger for each camera.
If you select a camera that has a Cam Plus (or better) subscription attached to it, then when you select the camera while creating the IF section, you should see “Detects a person” as an option on the Select Trigger screen. You might have to scroll (swipe up from the bottom) to see these other detections and select from them.
The screenshot you shared is what I see if I tap , then Automation, and then View all beside Essential Automations. That’s not what I’m saying to do.
You should tap , then Automation, then Device & Service Trigger, because you want to create that kind of Automation. Then on the next Create Automation screen, you should see a place to name the Automation, and beneath that are sections for IF, DO, and WHEN. You tap the on the Device & Service Trigger line below the IF to select your camera and what you want the trigger to be (“Detects a person”). Then you tap the Save button after you’ve selected the device and trigger. Then you set the DO (and, optionally, WHEN) section in a similar fashion.
Thank you. I will see if what I did works tomorrow. I appreciate your knowledge.
You’re welcome. If that doesn’t make sense and screenshots would be more helpful, then feel free to let me know. I like pictures and think visuals are useful, but I’m often too lazy to create them (labeled with where to tap, etc.).
If you want to snap screenshots of any Automations you created and share those, then that can be helpful in diagnosing issues, too.
Both V4 Cams; Sirens are now going off a couple of seconds after the Spotlights come on. Impressive. Almost like calling 911. Thank you so much. I’m 77 years old, but love technology. In 2005, I moved back from France and didn’t even have an email address. In my location at that time, I only had AOL Dial UP Internet. Since I knew nothing, I thought that was great. I have been a fiend for learning since then. I just love resolving other people’s technology issues. Your directions were clear and I don’t know if I would ever have succeeded without it.
That’s awesome! Thank you for taking the time to report your success and for giving me the opportunity to be helpful! I also like to learn new things when I can and have found the Forum to be a good resource for that.
It is a wonderful place.
