New user of Wyze Cam in UK able to view Events on my SD Card through the Wyze App without any problem.
However when I eject the card and try to view my files on my PC no recordings are showing! The card is showing four folders - alarm, log, record and time_lapse. If I go into record I am able to see a number of folders (dates), but trying to open each folder = This folder is empty!
SD card then back into Wyze Cam and am able to view my events again on the SD card!
I am recording 24/7 so was wanting to view a recording that was not picking up an event! Disappointed!
Another good starting point might be sharing what a screenshot of Settings âžś MicroSD Card shows when the microSD card is back in place in the camera, so that we can see how you have recording set and if the camera is actually using space on the card.
When you have the card in your PC, what software are you using to open the record folder and/or how are you accessing that?
Good spot Dave! It looks like I have been viewing the Cloud recordings, not the MicroSD card!
For some reason my Wyze Cam v4 had stopped recording to my SD card! I have replaced the card with another and all seems to be good.
It seems that a touch of Operator Error has crept in (that should be allowed for noobies!) and I was assuming that continuous recordings were being made to my SD card! That, however, was relying on the fact that the SD card would not go faulty for some reason!
Initially I was able to see that all recordings were being made to the SD card (clicking on SD card and seeing green line). Then it was only recording events! Then an error message along the lines of No Recordings at This Time!
That was when I started to think that something was not right so removed the card to view contents on my PC. Hence my initial posting on this thread!
I can only assume that the integity of the card went AWOL!
p27788deal, thanks for the pointer. That’s what I have been doing!
Crease, I am using VLC Media player. It would be good to have recomendations for an application that would allow the user to zoom in to capture specific parts of the picture. BTW which icon do I use to share a screenshot with the forum?
Thanks for the support folks, it is appreciated. I am still finding my way around Wyze software!
Like most CCTV users I just want a piece of kit that does what it says on the box and keeps on working without checking every now and then!
In this case the Wyze Cam works well, it is just the microSD card that failed!
I highly recommend using Samsung or Sandisk endurance rated cards. I’ve been running the Samsung Pro Endurance 128G cards for 2 years straight of 24x7 recording and not one failure.
Cheaper cards may not handle 24x7 recording well. The card may have failed. Though you can try doing a format using the utility at sdcard.org, maybe you’ll revive it. But it may also be short lived if the card is failing.
I’ve been saying for quite some time that wyze makes it confusing with the play button and the SD card button doing 2 different things. It should have two buttons right below the image that clearly state cloud recording vs sd card recording. But once you know, then it isn’t an issue. It is a common point of confusion for new users. Actually if you didn’t have cam plus, you’d be even more confused and possibly angry as hitting the “play” button on the event would give you an advertisement saying you have to pay to see the recording.
Tapping “sd card” on the event will take you directly to that spot on the SD card and start playing the video, which is handy.
Agree with you Dave, the software is not very intuitive or user friendly. But as you say you get used to it!
BTW I always use sdcard.org for formating SD Cards before use! Should we not then format the card via the Wyze app? Thanks for the recommendation for SD Cards!
I also use that formatter on all new cards (or cards that seem to be having issues). In my experience, once you’ve done that, the internal formatter in the camera works fine. Though I rarely have to format one, the few times I have it has been fine.
Have been experimenting with Zoom Player Max (Not free!) Not bad but still not what we want! At least one can configure the mouse scroll button to zoom the picture size! It seems with all other applications the scroll button just adjusts the volume!
What we need Wyze to investigate is the option to select an area within our (paused) video and to be able to enlarge that area!
I’ve used VLC media player for that on a few occasions but haven’t had a recurring need for that, so I haven’t invested any time looking for an alternative application that makes the process any easier.
There is no icon for this. It’s a feature of the phone’s OS. Once you have that saved somewhere you can access it while composing a Forum post, you can either copy and paste the image into the composer or use the Upload button in the composer’s toolbar to insert the image into your post.
I’m glad you got the problem solved! For whatever it’s worth, I’ve been using 256 GB SanDisk High Endurance cards in my cameras for a while and have good results with those.
Thanks Crease for the pointer regarding inserting an image in a post!
For my Dashcam viewing I use Dashcam Viewer, where it is possible to zoom in to a car registration plate for more info. Likewise with Wyze Cam (did you see what I did there?) it should be possible to zoom in to an image (remove non important stuff) for more specific details of people/vehicles.
