I have 9 cameras (7 V3 and 2 V4) connected to my account. In the past month or two, 3 of V3 stopped showing events or notifications. I replaced all three with V4 cameras, but they still don’t show events or notifications. One of them occasionally decides to show alerts for a few hours and then stops again.
I checked all the settings, and everything seems fine. Two of them haven’t shown any events or notifications since the first day I installed them.

My issue with the v4’s is to record events, you have to toggle on motion and that opens the door to all motion. Even as a cam+ unlimited subscriber and I only want certain smart events recorded, the v4’s are lacking in that discretion. So the sdcards are being written to constantly. Other cams I have can distinguish and record only smart events checked, e.g. not the tail lights of cars going down the street or a tree branch waving from the wind.
I’m not sure if what I did actually helped or if it’s just a coincidence for now.
I went into the settings of each problematic camera and performed the following process.
Setings >
Advanced Settings >
Manage MicroSD Card >
Eject MicroSD Card (Only through the app, not physically).
Restart Camera
Advanced Settings >
Record to MicroSD Card - OFF
Currently, two out of the three cameras are showing events and notifications again.
I have three V4 cams set to detect smart detections only and have no issues with any of them. All three are recording continuous to 256GB Samsung Pro Endurance SD cards also.
Really? You need to check your settings under event recording customized recordings. Check the ones you want and clear the ones you don’t.
Do you have Cam Plus or Cam Unlimited? Do the V4 cams you added show they have CP or unlimited in your services account?
If they do try resetting services. Check your filters on the events page also.
@Antonius - Obviously that was a mis-statement on my part, considering how long I have had Wyze cams and been a cam+unlimited user. My reference to discretion was the ability to record and notify selective smart events without toggling on the motion switch. I am fully aware of the options on the screenshots you posted. Thanks anyway for the reply and giving me the opportunity to clarify what many others also probably saw as misinformation on my part.
Account > Services displaying cams on cam+ or cam+unlimited has been missing in the mobile app for quite some time, you have to go to services online. At least that is the case with Android.
Yes, that is true, but my experience is getting more events than just the selected smart events and detections outside of the detection zone set.
Yes, I have Cam Unlimited.
That’s to bad, I only get the smart events set on all 14 of my cams except sometimes I will get a Motion event on one of the old WCO v1 cams. I have the sensitivity on all cams set at 100.
All my sensitivities are set between 50 - 70 with adjustments made based on the unwanted detections. In my case 100% would be gross overkill. 14 outside cams with a variety of v3’s, v3pro’s, v4’s, pan v3’s, BCP’s, floodlight v2 and doorbell duo’s.
Turn on motion, leave it set to “all events”, go into customize and de-select “other motion”. It will still record it but won’t notify you.
I’m not sure if the other workaround still works but if you don’t want it to record other motion at all, it used to be set it to “smart only” then go into notifications, customize, and under that it would let you de-select both tag (record) and notify. But not sure if that still works or not.
If you are using smart detections and it isn’t working, the most common reason for that is that the camera doesn’t have enough upload bandwidth to send all the events for analysis in a timely fashion. This could be a bad wifi signal, or just that the number of motion events you have is too much for your internet’s upload speed.
Adjusting the detection zone, sensitivity, and even the physical position of the camera to cut down on unwanted motion can help with that. And obviously if it is a wifi limitation, getting a better signal to the cam will help.
Thanks @dave27 - You can deselect notify but not record, it is checked and grayed out as non- selectable for the record box. I don’t want either for other motion. So I guess I have to adjust and live with the results, good or bad from my standpoint.
Yeah with workaround #1 you’re stuck with recording but not notifying (I’m guessing because “all events” means you have to have “other motion” enabled).
Did you try setting it to smart events only and then checking there and also under notifications to see if you can disable recording of “other motion”? I thought that was possible at one point but it seems it may have gone away.
I’d think tagging/recording events but not notifying you would be better than not recording anything at all? Or are you using continuous recording and don’t want excessive tags?
I don’t have a subscription so obviously for me “other motion” is the only option.
@dave27 - Your thoughts are headed in the right direction. If you check smart events only, you don’t get the “other motion” option under customize recordings nor “other sound”. Both only appear with “All Events”. So yes, I’ll have to make the adjustment.
Yeah I think the confusion comes from the fact that at some point, you could check “smart events only”, then go under notifications, and it would give you the screen where you could uncheck both notifications and tagging for “other motion”. Sort of a glitch where it took you to the now hidden configuration screen for recording and notifications.
For us non-subscribers (or for you when you put it on “all events”) the “customize” under both the events and notifications screens takes you to the exact same screen. Or at least it used to. So the workaround was to have smart events enabled, then go under notifications and it would let you turn off “other motion” and “other sound” there, including the “tag” if I’m not mistaken.
However I don’t know if that has changed.
Clearly a bug/oversight in the app. If you want smart detections, it should not be notifying you on other motion.
If you want to be a guinea pig and are on the newest app version, post screen shots of the “customize” screens for both events and notifications when you have “all events”, then again when you have “smart events”. Might help clear up what the current state is.
It seems that resetting service helped with the most problematic camera.
For now, all 3 new cameras are showing events and notifications.
