Wyze Cam v2: Stuck in "Flashing Yellow/Blue" after 2019 failed firmware update (Bricked - Help!)

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out to the community for help with a Wyze Cam v2 that has been out of commission since 2019. It’s been a long-term project, but I really want to bring it back to life.

The History: Back in 2019, a firmware update was interrupted by an internet dropout. Since then, the camera has been stuck in a bootloop.

What I’ve tried (The standard path is exhausted):

  • Webcam mode: I actually managed to successfully flash the ‘Webcam Firmware’ (demo.bin). This confirms that the camera hardware itself is still alive and working—it acts as a webcam when plugged into a PC.

  • Stock Firmware Restoration: I’ve spent hours using the ‘sd_update’ folder method with various FAT32-formatted SD cards, but it always ends in a flashing yellow/blue light.

  • Power/Reset: I’ve tested multiple high-quality power bricks, different cables, and tried every variation of the factory reset (with/without SD card).

  • Support: I’ve already been in contact with Wyze support; they provided the standard procedures, which haven’t yielded results. They confirmed no other official tools exist.

The Problem: Even after successfully using the webcam firmware, I cannot get the camera back to a state where it initiates the ‘Ready to connect’ voice prompt or gets recognized by the Wyze app. It seems the partition table or the bootloader is corrupted in a way that standard tools can’t touch.

The Question: Has anyone dealt with a V2 bricked by a mid-update power/internet loss? Is there a more aggressive way to flash the bootloader or a specific ‘unbricking’ image that goes beyond the official firmware files? I’m comfortable with terminal tools, SD card partitioning, or any advanced tricks—I’m ready to try anything to save this unit.

I don’t have Cam v2, and I can’t say that I’ve experienced this exact issue, but one thing in the list of steps you’ve attempted has me curious:

My understanding of all Wyze Cams that will take a firmware flash is that it’s important to have a particular .bin file in the root directory of the microSD card and not a “folder” as the instructions state. (The instructions have been wrong and caused confusion for a long time.) If you haven’t already done so, then I’d be inclined to download a Cam v2 firmware archive and extract the appropriate .bin file (renaming it to demo.bin) to your microSD card and try flashing that. Since you’ve had success flashing the demo.bin webcam firmware, I would expect the standard firmware to flash successfully for you if you use the same procedure. I’d probably also try doing this with the same card that has given you success with webcam firmware flashes.
