Wyze Cam Doorbell v2 Firmware Beta Test 8/27/2024

I don’t want to derail this topic too much, but I’ll go ahead and respond. I have some doubts about the “explosion-proof” “function” of the product at the Amazon link. If you’re concerned about explosions near your video doorbell, then maybe a cover for the thing isn’t the most pressing priority…. :man_shrugging:

Anyway, at the price of that product, I’d be inclined to pick up a Cam OG or Cam v4 (even better when they’re on sale) to provide additional coverage for the doorbell. For someone concerned about theft of the actual doorbell, I could imagine that a Cam Plus subscription probably makes more sense, too.

Someone last year requested a “security bracket” to prevent easy removal of the microSD card and hinder theft of the doorbell unit itself. I guess it could make sense to fabricate one out of more durable materials, but I’m content with what I ended up making for now.

That stinks about someone trying to steal your previous doorbell. It’s a good thing a lot of criminals are dumb and he got spooked by ringing the bell himself.

Getting back toward the actual topic… :arrow_heading_down:

Although I haven’t personally experienced the disconnect issues that a lot of users have reported, I get frustrated when I read about others having problems with this product (and I’m still dealing with an unrelated—I think—issue with my doorbell), and I hope this one resolves those when it’s released to production. I finally got the latest production firmware installed yesterday, and it seems to be mostly working as expected.
