What’s New:
I have high hopes for this release. Over the past month or so it has been better. Went from every 2 or 3 days to 2 or three weeks. Hopefully this fix is permanent.
(I know beta can have side effects. I have had to press the reset button so many times the friction lock to the base is wearing out .)
Interesting. I’m not to worried about my sd card being stolen but the torx is a good idea. Maybe Wyze is listening.
I was less concerned about covering the microSD card slot than I was creating a better downward angle to look for packages. Fortunately, I found a cool design online and had a fun project learning to modify and fabricate it.
DIY. If so more info please. Maybe the wrong forum but what the heck.
If you’re asking me for more info about what I did, it’s in the link I included up there.
Thanks, still learning this system.
You’re welcome. I could’ve made it more distinct instead of using the entire sentence as a link, but I figured the color difference would be enough of a visual indicator.
Feel free to ask questions here and/or in private messages.
Doorbell v2 firmware 4.51.2.1041
Finally! - Cam V3 can be enabled as Chime included Volume adjustments too.
At OG still no volume adjustments
This actually started working with the production firmware and app a couple of days ago. I suspect Wyze is tweakin’ back-end stuff.
I was looking at the metal shrouds to use in place as an anti-theft device. I wish Wyze had metal mounting plates and some kind of way to stop folks from ripping the doorbell off the wall. I actually woke up to a recording of a yard pirate trying to rip my old wifi doorbell off the frame. Stupid guy hit the button and rang the doorbell in the process. He got spooked and ran off, not without leaving a nice clear video of his face the entire time he tried. I was looking at these but not for that price. Not by a long shot. It at least stops someone from sliding it upwards and off the backplate, and greatly reduces grip surface to try and rip the doorbell out.

Maybe this would fit good.

I don’t want to derail this topic too much, but I’ll go ahead and respond. I have some doubts about the “explosion-proof” “function” of the product at the Amazon link. If you’re concerned about explosions near your video doorbell, then maybe a cover for the thing isn’t the most pressing priority….
Anyway, at the price of that product, I’d be inclined to pick up a Cam OG or Cam v4 (even better when they’re on sale) to provide additional coverage for the doorbell. For someone concerned about theft of the actual doorbell, I could imagine that a Cam Plus subscription probably makes more sense, too.
Someone last year requested a “security bracket” to prevent easy removal of the microSD card and hinder theft of the doorbell unit itself. I guess it could make sense to fabricate one out of more durable materials, but I’m content with what I ended up making for now.
That stinks about someone trying to steal your previous doorbell. It’s a good thing a lot of criminals are dumb and he got spooked by ringing the bell himself.
Getting back toward the actual topic…
Although I haven’t personally experienced the disconnect issues that a lot of users have reported, I get frustrated when I read about others having problems with this product (and I’m still dealing with an unrelated—I think—issue with my doorbell), and I hope this one resolves those when it’s released to production. I finally got the latest production firmware installed yesterday, and it seems to be mostly working as expected.
I agree, I don’t want to hijack the thread either so I’ll do a quick final response and let it go.
