My Wyze app just updated to v 3.18 (918). Running it on Android 16 on a Samsung S23. Noticed a default setting for notifications to repeat in 10 seconds. It was enabled, and now I am apparently getting a 2nd notification each time one of my cameras detects motion. Makes sense, but not how I want it. And.. go figure now I am unable to find that setting again. Can someone point me to it? Thanks in advance.
I have a Samsung as well.
Go to the Notification Section of the App and turn off one of the notification settings.
You will potentially see the following:
- WyzeMessages
- Wyze Sound 1
- Wyze Sound 2
- Wyze Sound 3
I have a found that if more than one is active, you will potentially get multiple notifications. I turned all off except the one I wanted or designated in the app.
Something to Try
Thanks! I am now thinking the ‘repeat after 10 seconds’ is not what is going on, although I do recall seeing it checked. I have sanity checked the Wyze notifications boxes multiple times now and only 1 is checked. I can select a different one and the tone changes but still repeats a 2nd time for the same notification. While having the notification repeat a 2nd time is not horrible, its not how I’ve been using the app for years. After the 3.18 update things went sideways. I also now have a camera setting off a notification that has them turned off. I had to delete the detection zone to make that stop. ???
I have removed 3.18 and reinstalled it and nothing changed.
I have reported this to Wyze as well. Sorry to hear turning on only one notification did not fix your issue as it did for me.
Hoping that Wyze will correct this soon.
you could go to APK Mirror and download the previous app version. However, this is a bit risky as it is not a Wyze sponsored site, but is a place where most APK’s for apps are stored or provided.
I have used it in the past, but am very cautious
spamoni, I would normally not hesitate to go back to the previous version I appreciate the apk mirror suggestion. At this point my 3.18 is finally doing what I ask except it repeats each and every detection notification a 2nd time. According to Google the 10 second repeat is the default. Going from 3.17 to 3.18 on my end evidently … might be why I can no longer see where to change that default.
Google’s wording is:
In newer Wyze app versions, the system defaults to sending a second push notification within 10 seconds of the first to ensure you don’t miss the event. This is designed to reduce missed alerts but can be turned off entirely if you prefer a single notification per event.
Found my answer, the ‘after 10 seconds’ 2nd notification is a setting in my V4 cameras That setting is not in my V3 cameras. To get to that setting: Settings > Detection Settings > Motion Warning > Repeat Sound.
You will see a screen that has Every 10s, Every 30s, Every 60 s and Once Per Event. This solves the issue I was having. Hope that helps others. -Gerry
