Wyze app launching but not successfully signing in on macos

i’ve installed the wyze app on my macbook pro 13" m1 system using apple silicon support for access and installing iOS/iPadOS apps. That said when i attempt to signin using known to work credentials, confirmed in browser on same system at wyze.com and mobile/tablet devices, it doesn’t succeed.

says "login error | problem connecting to server, please try again | okay

anyone got insights on why that is and how to resolve it. i’ve done the same thing on imac 24" m1 system and sign in worked there and they are both on the same home network wifi and both running ventura 13.2.1 release.
