Wyze app for android phones

Why can’t I find the Wyze app to download on my phone?

I have it downloaded on my tablet (for use at home), but I’d Iike to use it on my phone, for when I am away from home, to keep an eye on my cams.

Google determines app availability in the Play Store based on phone/tablet brand and model among many other things. What brand and model of phone do you have?

I believe this phone is 32 bit. The latest Wyze App requires 64 bit Android 10 or higher.

Unfortunately, your phone runs in 32-bit mode despite having 64-bit capable hardware. The Google Play Store no longer supports 32-bit apps. The Wyze app is now 64-bit.

You can sideload an old 32-bit Wyze app version from a mirror site, but you’ll will most likely encounter anomalies with some features. You will also not be running latest security framework.

You can grab an older Wyze App APK file here.

I have Wyze App version 2.50 running on Android 9. I can view Cloud Event videos but can not access Live View or SD card playback of my Cam v3 cameras on firmware version 4.36.16.6114.

Welcome to the Forum, @cmarbs!

Please be aware of the limitations involved with using an older app version if you choose to install one from a third-party source. As @Seapup mentioned, much of that seems to have to do with the security framework, like the addition of VerifiedView to many Cam models. When Wyze announced that in their blog last year, they mentioned this:

We will also allow older app versions to access their own camera content without performing the verification process for a few more months to allow everybody time to update.

I’ve never seen a definite timeline or cut-off date for that, but access to Cams with older app versions has deteriorated over time as these security improvements have been integrated into newer firmware versions, and @StevenA alluded to that. In addition, if you’re using Cams that have been newly released within the past couple of years, then the older app won’t have the plugin modules necessary to access those Cams. Your best long-term solution is going to be updating your phone to something capable of running a more recent 64-bit version of Android, and that’s something that should give you benefits regardless of your Wyze use.
