Hey, folks!
We’re hosting a live AMA on October 29th to celebrate our 3rd anniversary and we’re gonna need some questions to answer. That’s where you come in - submit a question at the link below to enter to win a $50-$100 Wyze store credit!
I am so sad that I won’t be able to attend the AMA live but I submitted some question I have on the Google Form and I’ll be watching it when I get home
Oh yeah! Will be there seems I can’t get enough Wyzer!
Question: Steady yellow light?! Tried reconnecting to rebooted WiFi w/o any success! Stale mate! Have iPhone and iPad no computer!
Sq1
I am going to try and make it for the Wyze AMA even though I work nights. @UserCustomerGwen I am so excited for the new products coming. As well as a few of those hidden products on some of the new pages. I guess I am going to have to get back online more often now days on this forum.
Thanks! Maybe I should’ve just put my post in this thread! You’re welcome to move it over here if you think it’d be better in here than separate. I won’t be offended, I just didn’t notice this post before I made mine. Lol
(Hardware panel starts around 0:36:30; Services around 0:55:50; founders 1:44:30)
Here are some things I really liked hearing them discuss:
New and better detection zone immediately available for Beta!
Color bulbs - YES
A Switch and a Click device (Light switch and dimmer)
Edge PD (Person detection locally on the V3 camera) is being developed and should be offered as an option in the future! (1:26:00 ish)
AI Sound detection, including Crying detection for baby monitor use (coming next year)
V3 Micro-usb port transmits both power and data so there are lots of possibilities like POE and many other adapters
Wyze is not limiting themselves to any category at all, they aren’t a camera company, or home security or smart home or anything. They are open to finding ANYTHING that they can revolutionize and disrupt with affordable good quality products, no industry limitations. (roughly 1:57:40-ish) Mostly high-quality technology available to everyone.
Battery Doorbell coming
Solar powered options coming
Sense 1 is no longer for sale, Sense V2 is backward compatible to support V1, and has a standalone hub so you don’t need to keep your V2’s to keep using your Sense V1.
Wyze will never use/sell user facial recognition data like what Amazon and others do where they give/sell your facial recognition data to government/law enforcement. Wyze says they will never do anything like that. Very firm, there was no hesitation, not even a discussion (around 2:17:00).
Vacuum launching later this year.
New Cam pan: “Maybe” (people laughing)
Dashcam: “Maybe” (people laughing)
Sprinkler - yes
Smartwatch - yes
Garage door opener - yes, we are working on something like that, more or less.
Weather station - they have a lead, so no for now, but maybe
A speaker that can double as a siren - yes we will have a siren
Spotlight is coming up, but as for Floodlight - “it’s something very interesting”
Admitting Eufy is big competition for them!
Faster notifications in a few weeks.
Redesign of Wyze app
Gate analysis to identify individual people/faces is being worked on
(Discussing security to prevent videos being accessible by others)
API (third-party access) options coming!!! (1:06:24)
Google assistant will probably take a few months to fix.
Alexa linking is getting to within 500ms! FAST. (pending)
Wyze low-profit margins are less than 10% margins (amazing). Wyze cam V3 margin is only 3%!!! WOW! (not sure if that is off the base cost at $19.99, or including the shipping cost which they use to get a little extra profit too, but it’s still amazing! How can they survive offering so much free cloud use at those margins?)
Developing voice recognition with their AI
Around 2:20:53 Working on mobility. they are developing something with true mobility, but it was very vague.
EDIT: #32. Geofencing! Being able to control devices and notifications (rules, etc) automatically based on where we are. This will be really handy for thermostat, lights, locks, notifications from certain cams/devices, security system status, etc. Especially if it will allow geofencing sensing based on multiple devices (ie: if someone else is still home vs nobody in the family is home).
Anybody else have any points of interest I missed?
Thanks, the AMA was AWESOME! I was extremely impressed. Reassured me that I can put my faith in Wyze and that Wyze isn’t shifting in all the negative ways I started to fear. The team did an EXCELLENT job at helping me to regain the faith I originally had in them and started have some concerns about. Great job Wyze team! 2 and half hours is a brutal amount of time to sit watching a discussion on company products, but I loved hearing what’s going on and that it wasn’t some scripted thing…hearing everyone be totally real was just awesome. I feel much more comfortable going back to recommending Wyze products to my friends and family again without worrying I’ll regret it.
The question/response of notification speed improving seemed very general, and didn’t address the ongoing issue for the WYZE app not being able to push through the doze on a locked android phone. Unless I missed it being discussed, that’s a key issue for a lot of customers now for a very long time. It’s not so much a matter of notification speed, as it is a matter of notifications on a locked android phone basically not working…
But very impressive panel and product lines. A lot of exciting new stuff coming up!
You can also look at Lifehackster’s video review, wherein he contacted Wyze about the notification issue and they told him the notification issue was getting an update in November that would bring the delay down to around 4 seconds and asked him to please check/review update this again at that time when it releases.
As for pushing notifications through a locked android phone, I’m pretty sure my notifications don’t have any problem with that…is that one of those Android 7 and before issues I heard about somewhere? Never had that issue myself, but again, all my Android Devices are 9…
