Worst thing about Wyze connected products.

Virtually all of Wyze connected products are extremely unforgiving when WiFi goes out, either due to a power outage, ISP issue, etc. When service is restored, I typically have to readd my color bulbs, robot vacuum, etc. because they show as disconnected in the app and never come back online. It also happens with the home monitoring items as well like the hub, keypad, and entry sensors, which is a HUGE hassle.

This is a issue that applies to pretty much all Wyze products. I was told sometimes this month the cams are Gunna get a fix, and soon after the other devices should follow.

Nothing new in your explanation. What is new, is everyone - everyone including manufacturers are starting to see this and do something about it. The devices in general that do not use a hub like Zigbee or Z-Wave are prone to no Local LAN service, And that’s what has made some manufacturers to recently add features frequently called Local LAN or LAN Control to their devices firmware. Look for it.

You know, there’s a new protocol standard for IoT devices coming at year end. Called MATTER. I am not going to talk about it. Search Google or YouTube for it. I won’t say for sure, but I heard MATTER is suppose to include that LAN Control for when the Internet is down. Not when your WiFi is down. When WiFi is down you must use your finger to turn it off and on. But you might want to buy devices that work when WiFi is up, even when Internet is down. So, we will want hubs or bridges to interconnect our device in our home. Read the specs. Now, the question becomes, will Wyze support MATTER. And will all the current the devices sold in the last 2-3 years support MATTER. Will Wyze re-write code to support MATTER? I care most that Wyze cameras support MATTER because I don’t want to buy a bunch more.

They have mentioned that they are “hoping” not necessarily “planning” on supporting it, but they will see when it comes out. It has an extremely expensive license type fee that companies must pay to use it, which is pretty limiting for companies such as Wyze. Also i don’t think it uses WiFi, I think it uses Thread, which is simmaler to Zigbee. This means most Wyze devices probably won’t support it, until they get a hardware upgrade.

I am afraid that you are 100% right. And Wyze will be left behind. Even the ZB Alliance is joining in the development of MATTER. One of the points of MATTER is to reduce all these dissimilar product apps that they must keep feature expanding to stay competitive.
