Word of the Day

Yeah, but that’s not without risk, depending upon the situation, as we’ve noted:

Still, I took the opportunity act on one of those random :shower: thoughts, because that’s where this solution occurred to me, and this new version is also an SVG, so it should scale cleanly, and I didn’t have to…

I also decided to fix this yesterday:

Sharing that might run afoul of the Community Guidelines, though. Just imagine Mary Poppins communicating in the sign language that @Antonius has been teaching his :raccoon::raccoon:.

Ok, you are so persistent you made me preview my next post (which I’m never going to)

It needs improvement but should die a quick death as a comment in word…

Good riddance, bad rubbish!

Conclusion

The word “veteran” represents courage, sacrifice, and national service.

Thanks Frog. There are also a lot of State/ County benefits for “Free Stuff” if you have a VA Disability rating of 100% .

The only thing I use is no Vehicle registration fees, and a 50% reduction in property taxes. All the State Parks are free and if desired free fishing license. Probably still need to pay for a Frog hunting license unless I use my fishing pole. :fishing_pole:

Can a non-vet understand a vet? If you have done no national service, can you understand someone who has?

A mandatory year of civilian national service was a good idea fifty years ago and still is but likely would be harder to implement now.

The tenth grade year is one of full time national service. Driver’s license contingent upon enrollment, progress and completion.

Eleventh and twelfth grades would be accelerated and lively, enabled by the increased sense of purpose and motivation gained.

Graduate as a genuine adult American? What a stretch.

I think many of todays youth think Nation Service is dressing up in all black with the mandatory mask, (Although they all complained about mask during COVID)

Yeah, there’s that.

Anyone ever speak this word?

I’ve only thought it, in its ‘hew to the line’ sense.

cleave

  • To adhere, cling, or stick fast.
  • To be faithful.

“cleave to one’s principles.”

  • To split with a sharp instrument. synonym: tear.

That reminds me of other contronyms, like “sanction”.
