I just received 12 emails rescinding invitations I’d received to people’s parties.
Word travels fast.
Night-night.

‘Woe! There was much gnashing of teeth
and rotted fruit leaped upward to the limb.’
For @ssummerlin :
Misheard a DJ this morning credit:
The Twelve Clowns of Joy
Long may they crank!
(Need a pic of 11 clouns in a little cloun car with 1 cloun outside turning the old-timey crank.)
(Or maybe I don’t. Hard to tell until I see it.)
Sounds like a joke about the 2024 Olympics. Maybe.
final repast
What are intimate relations like with a geek girl? Same as with a regular girl? I need a topic for our family summit tomorrow.
eg Internet Goethe Internet Shakespeare Internet Dr Phil
I assert this to mean that this category of quote is valid no matter who said it. Ie, any misattribution is effectively irrelevant because truth has somehow prevailed.
Same as with a regular girl?
Not even in the same universe.
Hmm. I will sleep on this.
Wow! Look at Dave('s not here) participating in this show of a topic! Good show!

I will even contribute, one that has been a major pet peeve for me over the last year, and the other day I learned there is a word for it, so I’m not the only one annoyed.
AI Washing
AI washing is a marketing tactic that involves exaggerating or falsely claiming that a product or service uses artificial intelligence (AI) to make it seem more innovative or advanced than it is
Not implying anything about Wyze (they may be in a grey area) but damn so many companies are doing this now.
That’s a new one to me, as in I don’t recall encountering that term before now, but the description totally makes sense. It reminds me of…
…which is a similar phenomenon when marketers want to boost a company’s enviro-friendly cred.
algorithms
AI are algorithms. But algorithms is not necessarily AI. Correct?
I AM YI… the Great and Powerful! Who are you?
Yet there are things that daunt me. Like this:
It’s extremely time consuming to retrofit code like that. I know because I actually did some of this when I was working through getting a certification for Java years ago. It sucks. It can be hard to find, decipher, change and reorganize/restructure into a new framework, test it out. It’s a bigger pain than I think people realize to retrofit old code to an entirely new framework, especially when the old code was done by a different programmer.
greenwashing

It has happened with every trend, especially since the advent of social media.
Green, non-GMO, “woke” (Bud Light learned a hard lesson there), gluten free, etc etc etc. But I really feel like the whole AI thing has taken it to a whole new level. There is literally an AI washing-washing machine from Samsung now. Does all the same stuff previous models did, but now instead of “Load Sensing” it is “AI”.
The GPT bot that went on TaskRabbit and paid someone to complete the “I’m not a robot” captcha for it, now THAT’S AI. And more than a tad concerning.
Ba-dia-ba-dia-ba-dia… That’s AI Folks!
I must consider this.
premature electulation
Jejune? Maybe.
But in the service of maturity, I’d say.
It opens up a path to traipse down lively.
