I don’t understand why all my cameras I can view in all different different browser but one camera I can only view in chrome I don’t like chrome I don’t trust Google because every time they do an update or on my android phone or tablet or they’re always hiding something in that update then I have to search for it to turn it off. You don’t have no privacy with Google Chrome. Please allow all cameras to be viewed that any browser your customer shoes because I’m paying for service buying your products. It just makes me wanna take them down put my ring cameras back up or another camera system and just package cameras at demand my money back.
I don’t even know what the cam Vase is?
The only cams that I’m aware of that will not work in other browsers are the 4K ones like the Panv4, and that is because Chrome includes the HEVC decoder for free and others charge for it. I believe it can be added to Firefox for free now, but Edge you have to pay Microsoft for it.
Wyze can’t change this, it is up to each browser whether they want to include support for 4K video or charge for it.
Since Chrome and Edge are basically the same thing and just collecting data for different companies, shouldn’t really matter there. If you want firefox it is slightly better but don’t think you aren’t still being tracked. Your android phone is tracking you regardless of what browser you use. Your ISP and cell company are also tracking you. If you think you can get full privacy just by means of your web browser, unfortunately that is not the case.
What specific Wyze Cams are you actually using? As far as I’m aware, Cam Pan v4 is the only model that says it specifically requires the use of Google Chrome to stream if you try viewing it in other browsers (like Firefox), and I’ve never been able to stream any Cam OG-based models using Firefox.
It’s been a while since I’ve tried doing this, but back in October I was able to stream Cam Pan v4 in Wyze Web View using Microsoft Edge and Opera (both Chromium based) on different platforms by changing the browser’s user agent string. With the changes (and reversions) Wyze has been making to the Web Portal in recent weeks, I have no idea if this is still a viable solution.
As much as I resent having an application dependent on a specific browser (I’m thinking back to Microsoft Internet Exploder Explorer days with ActiveX dependencies), I think Wyze does deserve some credit for being transparent about developing for Chrome (they recommend this within the Web Portal and also list it as the supported browser in the Help Center), but I’d still prefer to see cross-platform development compliant with open standards.
It’s an accessory they launched last summer. I suspect that tag was chosen accidentally, which is why I asked about the specific Cams in question.
