Hi, I am assuming the Wyze lamp socket V2 still can only power light and cam via usb when the power source for the socket is turned on? So the usb cam outside can only be used then the light switch is powered on all the time like the Cam/bulb combo?

How else do you expect to get power to the socket and the USB port, wirelessly…

Is it just me or the Cam Vase looks like an oversized camera. I don’t see any stealth benefits

Apparently you can factory reset the lamp socket V2. I bet you there are going to be some complaints when someone is playing with the lights . Some interesting tidbits on the Lamp Socket v2 support page:

How do I factory reset Wyze Lamp Socket v2?

To factory reset Wyze Lamp Socket v2:

  1. Turn the light switch associated with the lamp socket off and on quickly 3 times.
  2. Wait for the status to start flashing red, then set up Wyze Lamp Socket v2 as new.

Can I use Wyze Lamp Socket v2 without a Wyze Cam?

No, Wyze Lamp Socket requires a Wyze Cam.

Wyze Lamp Socket v2 cannot be set up in the Wyze app or managed without a compatible Wyze Cam. Features like Automations, AI detection, and controlling the lamp socket rely on the paired Wyze Cam.

Without a paired, compatible Wyze Cam, you can only use the lamp socket as a USB power source.

Understanding your Wyze Lamp Socket v2 Status Light

Wyze Lamp Socket v2 has a handy status light that helps determine what state the device is in. You’ll find the status light on the bottom of your Wyze Lamp Socket v2, near where you screw in a bulb. No light? Make sure it’s securely inserted into the socket and that the socket is receiving power.

Wyze Lamp Socket v2 Status Light Guide

  • Solid red – The device is powered on and initializing.
  • Flashing red – The device is ready to connect.
  • Flashing red and blue – Connection is in progress.
  • Flashing blue – The device is connected and finishing setup.
  • Quick flashing blue – The device firmware is updating.
  • Solid blue – The device is powered, connected, and working properly.

I will do you one better…

Presenting the flower pot, bird feeder, doorbell, weather station, sprinkler, solar panel, a couple odd screens for some reason … I’m not sure.

I call it Wyze Everything.

The guys and gals in R&D went nuts… I applaude their innovation.

Coming in 2027 - Wyze Everything + More - We’re adding a scale and RTSP. and full Dark Mode! (with subscription).

Miniaturization in tech is everywhere but I suspect the text specs on the new vase should say it is roughly 3 x 3 x 4 CM, not MM. Otherwise we’re gonna need new, smaller WYZE cams to fit inside it.
And a question: is it only suitable for plastic faux plants or will it hold water for cut flowers or soil to plant something—like you do with vases, you know?

Nice catch on the units. That should definitely be corrected. It’s also odd that the “Tech specs” section of the product page says that it’s…

Compatible With

  • Wyze Cam v4/v3/v4

Why is “v4” listed twice?

I’d guess not, according to the “FAQs” section on the same page:

Can I put real plants in it?

Not recommended. The Cam vase is compact with a bottom vent (for camera airflow).
Tip: Use faux plants for a lush look!

Because Wyze can’t afford to hire proofreaders

When is Lamp Socket v2 going to have real Automation support? This is already implied if I look in the app at the Automations tab and then scroll to the Essential Automations to try section and select “Lights on if I’m home”. When I select that, I find that I can edit this Automation and have my Lamp Socket v2s listed, each as a separate Action item; however, if I try to create my own Automations, I can’t see Lamp Socket v2 available to select for Actions.

Also, even when I look at this “Essential Automation” and see the Lamp Socket v2s listed, they all have the same generic device (product) name, because there’s apparently no way to assign a user-selected name to each device. When will we be able to name those? Assigning unique names is going to be a necessity for full Automation support.

One reason I’m asking about this is because the current way to trigger Lamp Socket v2 forces the user to set a schedule (at the connected Cam’s  Settings âžś Accessories âžś Lamp Socket v2 âžś Motion âžś Schedule). If I’m using these in an interior lighting space without windows, I might not want to set a schedule, because I want the lights to turn on when triggered regardless of the time of day, so imposing the schedule seems unnecessary. If I could instead activate the lighting with a Device & Service Trigger Automation, then I could create that Automation without a schedule forced upon the trigger. (I know it’s possible to create a schedule that runs ~24 hours, but that still seems wholly unnecessary to this feature as it currently works; if anything, the schedule should be an optional component.)

Also, at this same setting within the app, the maximum “on” time I can set for Lamp Socket v2 is a Lights Off Timer setting of 5 mins, and the other options for this timer are limited. If I was able to control the lighting with an Automation, then I’d have much more flexibility in controlling its “on” time.

I don’t think this is an unreasonable expectation for users to control their devices in this way, and in its current state it seems like incomplete or shortsighted Wyze design, like they got to a point in development, shrugged, and said, “Eh…good enough.”

Also, thanks again to community member @zcchai for pointing out Lamp Socket v2’s presence within the pre-rolled “Essential Automations”.
