Why is the V3 playback control on the app different than my other cameras? Specifically the doorbell cam and V3 pan cam. Those show a list with recent events making it easier to find when things were detected without having to go to the Events tab for all the cameras.
For the sake of consistency it would make a lot more sense if all the cameras from the same company, using the same app had the same playback interface.
You are preaching to the choir, we all want consistency but Wyze looks for a path of least resistance. V3’s are older cameras and use the old interface compared to anything that was rekeased after the V3.
It’s so confusing. The I bought the regular v3 after I already had the pan v3 for a while thinking they were on the same level. Now I’m finding out the regular v3 is actually old. I don’t know why they are still selling the v3 if it’s out of date compared to the rest of the products. I guess they made too many and are still trying to get rid of them.
I second that. Don’t get me wrong I like the V4 but V3s are rock solid cameras. Haven’t had any issues with mine for over two years and I just recently bough another one
It’s fine. It still doesn’t makes sense to me why they haven’t updated the app controls to match the rest of the cameras. Unless there is some reason they just can’t, but that would be a hard sell to believe.
Only Wyze knows the answer to that one. When the new UI came out a few years ago, the speculation was that once the new UI was tweeked, the older cameras would also migrate to it. However that has not happened. So as this point, I would assume that it will not happen.
I remember when I set up my OGs and Panv3s I was surprised to observe that the app is essentially just a container holding multiple different interfaces, almost their own individual apps within it.
Being a fan of simplification myself I would love it if they made the app the actual interface and just had each cam stream video (RTSP or proprietary) to the app, and the app determines the interface, and is consistent across all cams. But I don’t see that happening, they seem to focus more on the current and upcoming cams and adding features to that and not making those changes “retroactive”.
One glaring difference I’ve seen is the behavior of the timeline when watching SD card
OG if in landscape you have to turn it back to portrait to navigate the timeline
Panv3 the timeline is overlaid on the video, even in landscape, which makes things easier
v4 is a compromise, when in landscape if you double tap the video it shows the timeline/event list over to the right.
The picture in picture differences are also pretty obvious between the 3.
