I’ve never actually attempted that method and haven’t had a reason to try it. I just thought it seemed like a good alternative solution when I read about it.
Times like this I wish I had a test v4 that others can log into. Seems that should rule things out.
Is that part of the package when people show up at your house with beer? ![]()
I could do that initially but then ask them to bring their cam and connect on my network. I like working with known good variables. People just live too far away. Maybe when teleporting makes things easier.
Google files seems to work. I made a backup to onedrive and Google drive. I guess this apk contains my personal information. It is not usable for this situation since 2.x is needed.
Sorry @plsreplyproperly
Maybe a day walker will have some ideas.
Thanks, the Crease, but I’m afraid this has been complicated by developments whereby the simple APK (not bundle) generated and saved by Google Files from a late model Wyze app does not install (throws an error in the middle of the process.)
It has something to do with a lot of permissions embedded in the package, I think, but who cares, the simplicity is gone. ![]()
Oof. Like I said, I haven’t actually tried it, but I thought it seemed like a neat idea when I read about it, especially if it actually worked in the past.
It has worked in the past with WYZE app reinstalling on the same device and was on the same OS. Hadn’t tried it since til the other day but I’m several levels “up” since extraction date. Works great with other apps from one to the other, HOWEVER, most times would fail if I didn’t first park the apk on a Windows machine. If I tried direct sharing of the installer from the extracted device to the new install device it would fail in one way or another. There’s a mystery for ya.
As if the problems I’m having with the v4s here weren’t bad enough, check out my response on…
