Same here in Georgia. No front license plates.

Not interested in LPR. My cameras are not positioned to reliably capture license plates. I would, however, like to see improvements in vehicle recognition at night when all that is visible coming up the drive is a pair of oncoming headlights. Vehicle detection works pretty well at night when they’re backing up and/or taillights are visible leaving the area, but most of the time the only reason we are notified of a vehicle at night is because it is detected leaving after having driven in and been in the area for who knows how long.

I like the idea of LPR. I have a camera for my side gate that also catches the traffic on the road. I get asked a couple of times a year if I have footage of accidents or thefts. From the footage I can tell you it takes around 24 seconds to steal the catalytic converter from a Prius! Last year the cops wanted my night time footage because a murder happened around the corner.
The compressed footage we get can’t read the plates, but could it actually be read using AI and the direct sensor signal?
I also think it would be good in a theft situation to not have to scan the footage hoping to see the license plate, and instead immediately pass it on to the cops as soon as robbery is noticed. Cameras are often a lag indicator that is used after the event, but if my alarm goes off and my Wyze cam tells me the plate or make model and color of the vehicle that just backed up my drive I could have the cops turning up with a real hope of catching someone, or knowing to stop that truck when they pass it.

I would personally like this feature especially for identifying criminals and a feature i would love to see is that the camara would recognize license plates and identify a person with the plate just like friendly faces let me know what you think!!

In earlier email i explained the lowest cost LPR set ups cost $2000/ entrance per month. Wyze is in a good position to expand into the commercial business or HOA entry community protection market as a direct, lower cost competitor to Flock.
With Wyze commercial grade ALP quality entrance cameras and with Wyze doorbell and street facing cameras, Wyze could track a criminals car through a subdivision directly to the crime scene, nearly instantly. It would require camera owners to allow their footage to be used for this purpose but would give police instant leads and likely be only used for serious crimes like. kidnapping, burglary, murder, or other serious crimes. It would make Wyze more feared by criminals than Flock because Flock does not have all the interior home grade cameras that combined can do far more to recover stolen property and convict criminals than Flock can because Flock can’t integrate with, does not have all the interior in place home cameras.
This would require entry way quality cameras and software.

I would like higher resolution cameras. The ones you make right now are too “blocky” and the resolution is way too low for LPR. I would prefer something I can tell to notify me every time a specific type of vehicle is detected - like a red truck or a black SUV. I am afraid this is the best we can hope for with the current line of Wyze cameras. LPR will only work if you increase the resolution of Wyze cameras so please do an option that lets you specify a general vehicle type and/or color (red truck) for recordings and notifications.

I also love the idea of cheap body cams (as mentioned here) and things of this nature as I have a sad feeling we will all need to start doing more to protect ourselves from dishonest people.

Another thing I would like to see - better battery powered cams with solar power and some kind of dedicated WiFi repeater/extender (like what Amazon recently introduced) so people can use the cams outside and too far away for regular WiFi. I was going to get the Wyze and then run power and use a memory card to record the distant parts of my yard and then Amazon came out with these small outside signal extenders (Sync Module XR) which allow camera use up to 600 feet away (plus, they’re battery powered, have battery extension packs, and you can get small solar panels for powering them).

If Wyze fails to come out with something similar, they will be falling behind and losing business to Amazon.

If Wyze wants to carve out a niche - providing battery powered cams with the battery extension unit, solar power, and something like the Amazon outdoor sync module so people can use cams outside the normal WiFi range would be huge as lack of a connection and power are the two biggest problems I face with my cams (not LPR).

I’d like to use it to Id predators and stop calling them pets.

No interest whatsoever. What I would like is for the siren button to be moved, deleted, or made optional on the cam v3. Asking for my children and pets that have been traumatized by accidental triggers.

I have set up a telephoto wyze cam specifically to record license plates that come into my driveway. No other wyze cam is even closely capable and the telephoto cam can only read the license plates because of the magnification. The feature would be nice to have but I would rather Wyze focus on better person and package detection. Until that is 100% accurate the license plate recognition can wait. Recognizing a specific car or family member driving a car is a superfluous feature, when most of us in the automation space already have a way of tracking our family members. Eventually cameras will replace all motion and presence sensors to trigger events but the person recognition needs to be rock solid. Imagine the ability to recognize the action of sitting in front of the TV and automatically triggering the TV power and light settings. No more mm wave sensors needed. Once that can be programmed and processed locally, cameras will rule the automation space.

Interesting, I have never ever accidentally triggered the siren on any of my six V3s in three years that I’ve owned them. The siren button is hidden in the more subsection.

This is why I like Wyze App. version 2.50. I would have to go in to the “3 Dot More” menu (which I never do) to activate the siren.

I have no need for this, and we have lots of cars passing our home, that resides close to a busy street. ( all that Sec Cam’s processing power would be going nuts in trying to keep up wtih ID’ing licenses plates of all the cars that pass daily)

I believe the resources, could be better utilized on other things.

I certainly dont want TikTok associated with anything Wyze related.. TikTok is not to be trusted since the company is controlled by the Chinese Government, ( Communist Gov that is)

No different in version 3 of the app.

Forgive me, Wyze Cam v4, app version 3.4.5.9. Regardless, This is what I see when I pull up the camera and as someone who holds my phone in my right hand, it’s all too easy to accidentally trigger. Glad you all haven’t had the same experience.

Here is a video on taking apart a v4 camera. If you feel comfortable, you could unhook the speaker/siren cable.

That may have to be the solution. Much appreciated!

I see, would be nice if Wyze moves the siren icon all the way to the right of the second screen or make the position of icons user modifiable.

Having said hat, we all know how well Wyze responds to most of our requests.

I’ve been using my oldest V4 for 13 months and never once set off the siren by mistake and my iPhone is small (SE2020),

AI, with feedback at that location, should be able to differentiate, correctly ID 90% of the time, a rabbit, dog, cat, coyote, fox, squirrel vs the pets there everyday. Simply add a Pet sub menu where you can tell the AI what is a pet, coyote, fox, others at your location. Save hundreds of $ in time . Worth time it even if I had to upgrade to Unlimited Pro.
Now an emergency, coyote in my back yard, gets the same label as routine, my dog in my back yard.
