I use Detection Zone because I live on end of a short cul-de-sac, My Front camera will detect every car that comes to the intersection nearest me, approaching the intersection from the opposite direction. The camera detects their headlights coming in my direction. I enabled Detection Zone so it would only detect a car entering my driveway, and not any cars farther up the street at the intersection. Nevertheless, it is still detecting those other cars that care nothing about. What settings should I check or adjust? I am using a Cam Pam v3. Also, if I enable Track Motion doesn’t that turn off Detection Zone, but will that cause camera to only detect things closer to the house anyway (a good thing)? When TM is on I have never seen it try to track those cars in the distance.
Motion tracking and detection zone are totally different things, and yes turning on motion tracking will disable the detection zone. But it won’t cause it to only detect items that are closer, the sensitivity should be the same.
Are there parked cars within the detection zone? If so, those are likely what is triggering the vehicle detection.
Yup, any rapid light changes within the detection zone will be detected as movement. You can test this yourself with a flashlight at night. Stand outside of the detection zone, then use your flashlight to shine on something within the detection zone. Unfortunately, it sounds like things are working as designed. Which may not coincide with the way you want things to work.
Oddly the OG had an improvement added via firmware a couple of years ago that made it really good at ignoring headlights and the like but it was never done to other cameras. I wish they would add this to the other cameras, as my v4 (which took the place of an OG) is triggered by headlights all the time.
Oh wow, I had no idea and agree, that functionality should be brought to the more expensive cameras as well. Add this to the extensive list of things that WYZE does which cause me to scratch my head. I never purchased an OG and have always opted for the “higher-end” cameras.
Thanks for the info!

You might experiment with re-aiming your cameras and adjusting Detection Sensativity to a setting you are most happy with.
I have three Wyze Cam v3 cameras watching my front street. Here are 3 different angles of the same car headlights to illustrate how re-aiming might help reduce unwanted videos.
I have tried going to Track Motion but then it detects a gnat flying by it seems. I also reduced sensitivity. And now it is even detecting the streetlight reflecting off my own car window, in the driveway, likely assuming it is a headlight. So a “Vehicle detected” every minute for the last 10 minutes. And the green box it is supposedly detecting is my own car. Wyze should change their name to Cryze !!
Will changing Event Recording settings make any difference? Maybe turning off Motion Tagging? BTW, what is “OG”?
Exclude the area you park your cars from the detection zone and that will eliminate the false vehicle detections. It will still see someone walking up to them etc.
OG is another cam model (non pan/tilt).
Are you able to turn Off Vehicle Notifications? I only want Person Notifications. I got no Notification on this video below. If a Person got out of the car, then I would get a Notification.
I live on a fairly busy street. I want my cam to record all vehicles rolling down my street so I can go back and look if needed, but I don’t want any notifications. I cannot get my camera to stop notifying me even though I have the checkbox unchecked for notify. It records AND notifies. Any ideas? This happens to be on a Solar Pan Cam.
I have my Wyze Cam v3 cameras set up to record all Motion but only Notify me when a Person is detected. In my IOS App version 3.11.0.6 here is my Event Recording settings.
Here is my Notification settings.
You want to set vehicles to “tag” but uncheck “notify”. You may need to change “other motion” or other smart detections as well, depending which kind of notifications you’re getting.
