V4 Can’t Record to SD Card offline even after initial setup

I’ve got a V4 that I successfully setup at home. It’s the 5th Wyze cam in my lineup, but I want to use this one offline for security and simply record to the SD card. I set it up at home, it ran for about 24 hours, & made sure “record to SD card” was checked. I unplugged it and carried it to the other location but get the flashing red/blue light when I plug it in. I know I can’t see a live stream while offline, but shouldn’t it power up and begin recording continuously? Any idea how to remedy this?

When you power up a Wyze cam, it needs to authenticate via the Internet. If you have a cell signal at your other location, try creating a WiFi hotspot on your cell phone with the hotspot’s WiFi name and password exactly the same as your home WiFi. When you plug the cam in, it should be able to authenticate via your cell phone’s hotspot.

You should test this at home before making the trip to your other location. Just set up the cam to home WiFi, unplug cam, set up the hotspot on your phone. Pause or disable your home WiFi, turn on hotspot, plug cam back in to power and ensure your cam successfully connects to your hotspot. Turn hotspot off, let the cam run for a while, turn WiFi or hotspot back on (not both), verify SD card content.

Makes sense. I actually thought about trying to use a hotspot on my phone, but never would’ve known to duplicate the name and password from my home WiFi. I’ll give that a shot. Thanks for the quick reply.

If V4 is like V3 / V3 Pro / Cam Pan V2, then the footage is still in the micro SD card even if there is no internet connection.
