Thanks but NOPE Did that too, numerous times
Did anything else change besides a new account? New router, new ISP, etc?
Are you certain they are successfully factory resetting? Sometimes it takes 20-30 seconds of holding the button, and sometimes the button needs to be pushed pretty forcibly if the cameras are older, some have even used something pointed to get it to work.
Nothings changed. I just tried again using scissors to reset the camera a couple more times again for 30 seconds and got nothing. V3 will not scan the QR Code.
It definitely goes through the factory reset light sequence?
I know some have had trouble getting the code to scan sometimes but usually turning up the phone brightness as needed and moving the code forward and back does it. The only cams I have that use the QR code are the panv3s and those all scan it quick and easy.
If it won’t even scan the code, that tells me something is physically wrong with the camera, not enough power or just burned out. I think you said you tried a different power adapter? If not definitely try that. Any USB adapter rated 1000MA or higher will work, I’ve even run them off a USB battery bank temporarily while setting them up.
All 5 of my Wyze V3 cams worked fine until I changed my email. Now all 5 will not scan the QR Code no matter what I do. Just for fun I tried all 5 again in a different outlet with different usb bricks and all 5 do not read the QR Code. The problem is with Wyze and their app not my cameras or internet or WiFi or router or phone screen. They need to update their app and or software/firmware for the V3 cams plain and simple. My V2 cam and Og scanned back in just fine and are working. I believe that in the event other V3 cam owners have to unplug and reinstall their cameras they will find they have the same problem.
Happen to have one of those privacy screen protectors on your phone?
If it won’t scan the QR code, there’s 3 possibilities (it isn’t even connecting to the app or internet before it reads the QR code):
-App is generating a faulty code, but you got it to read once
-Camera isn’t “seeing” properly, possibly due to firmware, possibly due to hardware issue
-Camera “sees” fine but isn’t able to read the code off your phone, the one time it did maybe it mis-read it.
I’ve never had any issue reading the codes but some others have, some are able to overcome it by taking a screen shot and enlarging the code, printing the code out, changing phone brightness, etc. Sometimes it is just a matter of holding the phone too close, the cam is not a macro cam, try holding it a foot away and moving it in and out some. But if you have a privacy screen or other types of filters, that can interfere as well.
I just re-added a V3 plain using the current iOS app 3.3.0 (6). Twice. My V3 was about 6-7” away from my iPhone 13 screen when it read the code.
One thing people have had problems with in the past is dark node. The app has a dark mode now, but the QR screen is still white. If you are in some sort of dark mode that turns the QR code screen dark, then be sure to exit that mode before adding a camera.
Yea I had exactly the same issue with 1 v3 camera changed it with another one that was working and it went off line also that’s how I found out it was the wall wort. Changed that and now both are back to working. But I do have a Battery Cam Pro that seldom ever connects and also constantly going off line but it’s a ways away from router. However I have 2 Battery Cam Pros in that garage and the other one works fairly well occasionally won’t connect but most of the time it will.
Thank you. I hadn’t thought of this and tried it but sadly it did not work
Did all of that and these… Still the same:smile:
The internet I have in the house is only using the wyze.
I got tired of twicking it…So I let it go and all the sudden after few days it just work…and cameback online… There’s a glitz for sure with wyze…
And now another glitz…even you turn off the camera to have it relax for a few hours…
Somehow it will turn on by itself…What the heck!!!
So weired…
Hello. I’m new on this forum. Just signed in, to find out if there are others with Cam v3 problems, and looks like this is happening to quite a few.
Slowly but surely each of my 10 cameras one by one started loosing connections. To the point that some don’t connect anymore and the app shows them either off line, or, when I bring them at my desk to reset and test, are very slow to connect, and eventually got error code -14. Or back to off-line.
I just renewed my subscription, for one more year, and it seems is going to be the last, for both Wyze and I. I’m not sure what’s the expected life of these cameras, perhaps they only last 3-4years, and it’s about time to try others.
Other than that, I don’t have time for the “gymnastics” suggested in this thread. All my environment is stable and forever works for everything else.
Wyze fooks, would you comment on the life expectancy of these devices used outdoors in zones 5-6.
Thank you.
Welcome to the forum.
I am sure folks can express their experiences. I believe I am outside of 5 and 6, if Google was correct. All of my cams are internal.
I live in zone 4, so colder than the area that you’re talking about.
I have had multiple cameras outside for multiple years with their only protection being that they are under the eaves of the house.
I did have some connectivity issues a while back that turned out to be related to dns over https. For a short while I had to bypass that for the cameras but that problem has gone away.
The only other connectivity issues I personally have had were related to a bad firmware that was released that they fixed pretty quickly.
I don’t discount other peoples issues as there are so many factors at play, i’m just commenting that I personally haven’t seeing the level of problems that some others have. I have five wyze cameras of various types outside three indoors and a couple that I only plug in occasionally.
Thank you for commenting. NB. I had in mind this
https://openei.org/wiki/ASHRAE_Climate_Zones
The higher the number the rougher the climate.
Based on that chart I live in zone 6. Middle of MN.
