Any way to just use older tablet to simply monitor my old v2 cameras??
Don’t need newer stuff…just monitor my older cams.
Thank you.

I imagine that would be possible, depending on the version of Android the tablet runs. If you can’t install the Wyze app from Google Play Store (because of OS version requirements in recent versions of the Wyze app), then you could try downloading and installing an older version of the Wyze app from a source like APKMirror. I think that’s probably the approach I would take if trying to repurpose an older tablet like that.
That’s exactly what I’ve done on an old Android 8 device.
The catch is we don’t know how long the 2.5 app will continue to work, but so far it is working fine.
Another option is using a 3rd party app like tinycam.
Here is some Wyze App info from 4/26/2024.
Yeah, done that and older version of app installs fine but catch is, it won’t let me login.
Logging in requires a redirect to a browser, so maybe the older browser on the device isn’t handling something with the wyze login page. Maybe try setting a different browser as the default on that device? My old Samsung works fine logging in using the Samsung internet browser, my newer phone works fine with Chrome (but that’s the 3.0 app and probably a much newer chrome).
I just tested it. As of right now, you need to be at least on Wyze app v2.40 to login on your Android device. It used to be v2.45, but it was changed some time between May and Sept.
…no workie…sadly. Wyze should release a version so we can use our older devices just for simple monitor older Wyze cams.
@grapefruityoda, so they went backwards? When I first read your comment, I was thinking back to the April announcement:
Now you’re saying an app version before v2.44 does work?
@scouzi, I’d echo what @dave27 suggests about trying a different browser and checking the browser’s settings to see if there’s an issue with returning control to the Wyze app, like what’s discussed in another topic. You didn’t mention which version of the Wyze app you were able to install or what browser(s) you’re using on your device, and that information might be helpful if you want to continue to troubleshoot this.
What version are you running? Once you install the apk, you should be able to go into play store and update it to the latest 2.50.9 (512)
Yes, they changed it. I remember testing it in late May 2024 where you needed to be on v2.45 or newer to login to the Android Wyze app.
Last month I tested it again here and verified that v2.40 is the earliest version you can login to Wyze app. I tested it again yesterday and I can confirm v2.40 is still the earliest version to login to Wyze app.
I don’t know specifically when did they make this change.
Wyze app version 1.3.162 (this was working perfectly with my 8 wyzecams v2)
Samsung sm-t330nu
Chrome
Way too old, that app version won’t let you log in (but it also wouldn’t kick you out which is why it was working before), as you can see earlier in the thread, you need at least version 2.4. But might as well just update it to the latest 2.5.x.
