Update on Investigation of 2/16/24 Security Issue

While I agree it was not that kind of security breach in traditional terms, and I don’t expect Wyze of offer it, you cannot say any of that with absolute certainty given you have no idea what was on any of the event videos. Names could have been mentioned, someone could have had their cc / debit card visible etc.

Fair enough :+1: and for anyone in the 3rd group (had events visible in another Wyze user’s account and the thumbnail was tapped), and they happen to have kept cameras in privacy-sensitive areas and have concerns about that, I would follow the last statement:

Though based on the numbers already released, that for sure won’t be necessary for more than 99.75%+ of Wyze users. Probably more than 99.9999991% of Wyze users. and I’m sure anything would be considered on an individual basis.

But I don’t work for or represent Wyze in any way. They just said that anyone with further concerns or questions should reach out through their support. My statement was a general explanation why there’s almost no way Wyze is going to offer free credit checks and monitoring for every one of their 5.2Million users, more than 99.75% of whom were not affected by the breach in any way (nothing leaked from their account and none of the leaked stuff came to their account either).

Dave and the email did mention they continue the investigation, so it will be interesting to see if any more info or decisions come out in the future on this.

OK, my sensors started reporting last night. Now I have to set up the ones I deleted thinking it was on my end.

5th day in a row I CANNOT ACCESS MY DEVICE LIST. Comes on for a bit later in the afternoon/evening, but by morning it’s toast again. Error -1200.

Oh - it came back with the list, and then IMMEDIATELY started giving the -1200 error. So now I can’t view videos captured, can’t live view, can’t do anything. HOW MANY MORE DAYS IS THIS GOING TO GO ON?

I apologize if you have already tried this, but have you logged out of the app, deleted it, and reinstalled it?

YES. FIRST RULE OF AN IOS/Playstore APP.

Are you using a VPN or anything? Have you tried on mobile data or a different network with any VPNs disabled

no VPN - use wireless or 4G/5G. Have tried both. I’ve had this issue off and on for several months, usually just a restart of the app fixes it. This is persistent since the debacle last week.

Can you try logging out of the app and then back in and let me know if it will connect now.

It’s working! Today just got good. Thank you!

Is your device list not populating, or just showing the error in a little toast message?

Could you provide some screenshots.

Yeah… no.

None of that wild speculation is grounded in any facts. Definitely not helpful.

Hello,
Two log files, 1 each from each Bat Cam Pro.
1327599 and 1327608. Just completed uploading. As indicated last night, the cams don’t even start, they go directly to “Failed to connect; network error”. I have done all of the restarting and logging off and on. My network streams are fairly high, the furthest cam is at 80% signal strength.

The device is showing up, but when I tap on it, it acts like it’s trying to log onto the app.
