Update on Investigation of 2/16/24 Security Issue

I need you to log out of the app and then log back in. I do see you listed other steps you took.

My camera still says off line.

One of my favorite podcasts covered the Wyze security breach. Security Now episode 962 (15-23 minutes in).

@lucilleyoung6
I am sorry, what model of camera is it that is still offline?

Jason,
Battery Cam Pro model:WYZECOP

Jason,
I found a 3rd Battery Cam Pro on the system exhibiting the same issues.

I had all the exact problems and tried all the remedies you did and nothing worked, until I completely logged out of app, not just closing it. Closed out app and reopened, then re-logged back in. I was able to get live view of all my Battery Pro’s back.

You are a bloody genius!!!
Outstanding

Jason,
Found a fix from bjurgella.
She suggested completely logging out of the app on the phone, waiting a few seconds and logging back into the app.
At first, I read it as simply closing the app, but then I started looking around the actual app.
I have already sent a thank you, I wanted to let you know.
Thanks for your help, again, very much appreciated.

Regards,
M

Great to hear your issue is resolved. :+1:

It’s very difficult to follow threads on this forum when using the app. And nearly impossible when using email. It’s suggested that you use a web browser instead.

Jason’s previous suggestions to you:

I was curious. Number six on The Carver’s recent list

(App uninstall/reinstall requires re-logging-in.)

I honestly didnt see this post or at least it did not register that I say it.

Hey @mdgs3

Oh yeah, it’s buried deep, just wanted to foreground it a little…

All the more reason to do your best and visit these topics in a web browser. Whenever I get emails of topics or messages in here, I then visit those topics in a web browser so that I don’t miss any of the cadence of the conversation.

Also with emailed replies. It’s important to remove your personal signature. Otherwise, personal information will be posted in public view. I bypass all that and just recommend visiting in a browser if you plan on replying and keeping up with a topic.

Glad you got it working though!

Retrospect…I probably took that/those suggestions as “closing” the app, which I did several times. I humbly apologize to jason for MY misunderstanding of his recommendations. I get frustrated easily.

Regards,
M

It’s all good. We’re just glad to hear you got your cams back online.

Thanks to all, again

M

Who are the .25% of Wyze accounts that were affected? Was their private info compromised? What exactly?
(99.75% of all Wyze accounts were not affected by the security event)

Unfortunate. You’re getting negative press in WaPo, NYT and elsewhere. And they are recommending “do not buy” for your products. Cannot say I feel reassured. I’ve trashed all my Wyze cameras except that ones that are outdoors.
