Update on Beta camera firmware 4.9.6.59(v2) and 4.10.6.59(Pan)

I don’t. Just watching the move stream.

If you’re in the beta program the Play Store is always going to show your app version as beta, even when it isn’t.

Hardworking and honest!

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I have been using the Beta camera firmware and have no issues. I love the Wyze company and its products. I am anxiously waiting for its outdoor wireless security camera. Do you have any expected dates of release?

Hello Wyze!!

I have noticed extreme delays in recording on my Wyze cams. It used to be that it would record around 30ft away. Now it starts recording events when I’m like 5ft away??

Any plans to fix this?

I agree with some of the other comments already made…"being honest & forthcoming with information is always more acceptable to your clients. Thanks & PLEASE keep all of us posted once the firmware is out of BETA and accessible for us to download.

Your app store will keep you updated. There is nearly always a beta.

Thank you for the detailed update and the effort put in re-writing the code.

Do you have an estimate when the beta Firmware we are testing/the new Code will go mainstream?

Asking for all those out there who cannot yet benefit from the improvements.

Hello. I have been using Wyze cameras in my home (6 cameras) for nearly two years and have purchased 10 more for family members. We don’t use the cameras as a security system, but as a way to see what’s going on around the house. While the cameras can provide peace-of-mind, I don’t think they are meant to be a security system. I also have two hard-wired “security” cameras outdoors and a digital recorder - that security systems cost me almost $500. There are “cameras” and then there are “security cameras”. For $20 a piece, I’d say there’s a pretty good value in these Wyze Cams. Kindest Regards.

This is correct! While Wyze is not a Security company their cameras can be used for home monitoring. They can also be used for security but not meant for that. I have Wyze 5 cams around my house to monitor what is going on. @bbnsnt

Very similar story here.
I started with a V2 and a Pan about two years ago. I have 8 Wyze cameras and an older D-link now.
I like being able to check on the house and yard when I am away. I don’t think of them as security cameras at all. I don’t use notifications much. Sometimes I set one camera to notify me if the dog barks. She has better person detection than the cameras.:slightly_smiling_face:

After two weeks of this figured out how to revert in the beta app. We use motion and door sensors to control ALL of our home lighting and it has been VERY frustrating. Glad that’s done.

Sorry about that! Beta products have more bugs than official release. If you need stable devices I would recommend using official versions of firmware and app.

BTW, I have the same issue as you. My pantry sensor went offline frequently recently due to connecting to beta firmware camera. It stopped turning on/off my bulb from rules. My wife started to use physical switches instead of automatic lights. I feel the pressure to fix it soon

Every light in our house runs off a Wyze sensor. I felt the pressure too :joy:.

Since my Pan cams went to 4.10.6.59, I’ve had to turn off motion tracking (because it was going nuts and doing a terrible job) and in the app, if you drag vertically (tilt) the motion is inverted (drag up and it tilts up instead of down).

This is a serious degradation in functionality. I reported this problem in another thread, but I’ve never heard any acknowledgment of this very obvious bug. Any idea whether/when it will be fixed? Can someone from Wyze respond? Are there any plans to have an official beta bug reporting system set up?

The vertical tilting issue was fixed. We haven’t released since we are still verifying other issues. We haven’t worked on motion tracking issues. Our focus has been on stability, sensor, and image quality for now. Once we are done we will look at other issues.

Regarding the public bug reporting system. We are experimenting a service recently (mostly on hardware testing for now). We will decide if we expand it to Beta program after verifying the beta testing service. Thanks!

Revert the cams back to .111, .59 has been pulled, there has been multiple posts on this…

Well, I did revert my pan cams to 4.10.5.111, which did fix my problems.

…but Lucy pulled the football away again (old fart Peanuts comics reference) since I allowed my cameras to take 4.10.6.104 today: They have not fixed motion tracking for 180 degree rotation (inverted position) cameras – and I have two such cameras. So I can’t use motion tracking on those cameras. I’ll revert them back to 4.10.5.111, I guess.

It’s rather frustrating that Wyze doesn’t maintain a public-facing database of reported/confirmed bugs. I don’t have any way to know whether they took note of and plan to fix bugs I’ve reported (such as this specific one with inverted camera motion tracking).

Wyze, please put together some sort of external bug reporting/tracking system!

When will a new version of cam F/W be available? The video quality has really degraded in this version, and when I dropped out of Beta no option was available to dump it and go back to an earlier version. I asked.

Quality problems may be due to excess compression issues, trying too hard to make it small. The result appears exceptionally lossy- not what I expect from HD.

As Coax9952 suggested, you can revert your camera’s firmware using an SD card. See https://support.wyzecam.com/hc/en-us/articles/360024852172-Release-Notes-Firmware
