Unhappy with issues

After being a dedicated Wyze user for 6-7 years since the first camera released unfortunately today I believe I’ve reached my end with Wyze. I have for three weeks been trying to get my mesh pro routers setup. After about 6+ hours on with tech support and numerous emails with tier two. Returning the first two I purchased got number 3 and 4 today same issue. And after attempting to explain to tech support this isn’t getting resolved over email nothing. Tier will not get on the phone to try and help tier one is hopelessly lost past did you try power cycling it? Wyze has apparently gotten to the Comcast level of we don’t care anymore. Sad to see.

Hopefully you can get your money back.

So far I am happy with TP-Link mesh x68. I should have held out for the AXe since my new phone works with 6Ghz.

So, just here to rant or did you actually want someone here to try and help? If you want help, post some information about what is wrong and what you have already tried and what support has said.

They will not get past the setup when you try and setup the SSID and password it fails. I can get one of them to take it through the web interface but the others won’t. Without that they won’t broadcast.

I’ve had mine since launch. They solved my weird camera issues I was having. I’m sad they aren’t working for you.

Can you do a Screen Record on your phone to show us?

So do the SSID or password contain any unusual characters? Have tried different SSID and passwords as a test?

Also, does the router actually connect to the internet? Have you tried plugging an ethernet cord directly into it? That helps to understand the state of the router.

Can you ever get to a screen to see the IP address of the router or are you stuck in the setup?

Do you have the cable from your Cable Company’s modem plugged into the right port? Literally the “right” port, when you look at it from the back.

Yes to all of that. Earl hardwired they run just fine.

Screen Record your phone (built into Pixel phones and probably Apple) or provide screenshots of setup process if you can. That will help to show us what is going on.

When I get home I will give it one more try but as it is failing during the set up they walk you through I don’t really see what I could be doing wrong. And FYI I have been in the Network/Security industry for 20 years. I’ve done everything from building Data Centers to massive camera networks so I have a good grasp on how this should work.

Not doubting your credentials.

I just need to see the screens for what your issues are. I’m not understanding the failure or what errors you are getting, etc. Especially since the Router is connected to the internet and working when hard-wired. Just post screenshots of all the settings of your Router. Blank out the MAC address stuff.

I had some trouble when I first tried to set mine up. It takes a long time to boot and factory reset but if you follow the instructions exactly. It should work. orange blinking light to green on mine during the setup took like five minutes. It was way longer than I would’ve thought.

As it turns out it appears there are special characters you cannot use in the SSID or the Password. Wyze was unaware of this. They are looking into it. Once I figured that out everything works fine.

This is from previous post : Discord - Special characters not allowed in Wyze Mesh Router Pro SSID or password

We’re going to remove this from the update list but we did hear a question about why apostrophes specifically are not valid characters for the SSID and password. This is due to how our code is designed and we currently don’t have plans to adjust the code.

Where is that I have searched all over for this info and Tech Support was unaware. Thanks for the answer though glad to know I’m not nuts.

That’s why I asked earlier about trying a different SSID and password…
