Too Frequent Notifications

I have a Wyzecam V3 pointed at my backyard, ready to report if there are intruders. However, when my wife or gardener is working out in the backyard for an extended time, the camera repeatedly and annoyingly gives me notifications every few seconds that a person is detected there. Is there a way around this behavior? Like a way to set the camera to just report every two minutes or so?

Short of that, your best bet may be to manually turn off that camera’s notifications in its settings (or at  Account âžś Notifications âžś Push Notifications âžś Devices) or, if it’s a frequent enough occurrence, maybe create a couple of Shortcut Automations to toggle notifications off and on for that one camera.

When I mow my lawn or work on my car in view of my v3, I go into the App and turn off the camera until I am finished.

At least in this case, actual movement is being reported. In the case of a car parked on the driveway, you get the same stationary car reported every few minutes,

You remove “car” from smart object detection and then you miss a moving car.

Except that often the AI gets it wrong. I’ve had birds tagged as a person, large dogs not tagged at all, vehicles tagged when there was no vehicle.

If you’re using smart/AI (with cam plus subscription) I think they removed the ability to have a “cool down”. Without a subscription you get a max 1 every 5 minutes (or maybe 2 if you use sound notifications too).

However it is very easy to go into the app and hit the bell icon in the top right to turn them off and back on. Or you can create automations for “notifications off” and “notifications on” and put them on your phone’s home screen.

I’m not sure if there is a “turn off notifications for x minutes”, I don’t think there is.

“ Turn Camera Notification OFF for X minutes” is one of the rules you can vote for on this poll.

I voted for a couple things in that poll last year, haven’t seen any of them

The one I’d really love is to turn on the IR lights when motion is detected. Not holding my breath. I know others have been holding out for being able to turn night mode on and off based on time of day rather than detected light levels. Maybe someday.

Dave27 - There is a way to do this.

You can use a smart plug. I call mine Wyze Notifications. It is not hooked up to anything. Just plugged in the wall.

I have 2 rules.
One says if the Wyze Notifications smart plug is turned off, turn off all notifications.
The other one says if the Wyze Notifications smart plug is turned on, turn on all notifications.
I’m not sure I even need the second rule.

I use Alexa. I say turn off the Wyze Notifications for x minutes or hours, or I can say turn off Wyze Notifications until x time. It automatically turns the notifications back on at the end of the time.

I don’t ever turn off notifications any other way except thru my Wyze Notifications smart plug. That way, I don’t ever have to remember to turn them back on. I have the plug next to my bed and I can see at a glance if the blue light is on. That tells me my notifications are on.

Yeah I’ve heard of people using the smart plugs just to “hack” automations. Of course that setup requires a smart plug and an alexa device so not ideal for everyone, but it is an elegant, hands free solution.
