I wish that Wyze would fix its time syncing feature. It’s next to useless…
1 You cannot manually adjust the time to accomodate cameras in different time zones.
2 The cameras are supposed to sync with the phone. Sometimes they do, although an hour two off and correctly once in a while.
3 The automation feature does not accound for different time zones, so it’s difficult to set the on and off time for that zone.
Will Wyze fix the horrible software. Probably not.
My guess is that the cameras actually sync with with internet time servers and not the phone. But they need the time zone info and that is taken from the phone. Maybe the cameras should store their time zone, in case the cameras are in different time zones.
I have changed the time to manual, fiddling with UTC and every other feature with good results only after a dozen incorrect settings on the camera. The sync feature is USELESS unless in a fixed location, where it works without a problem.
Plus, it’s difficult to set the automatic on-off feature because it isn’t clear which time zone the camera is in and if it shows the phone’s zone or its own.
Is there any work around to fix it ? I am in different time zone which is few hours behind the time zone of camera. And hence I can not see the few minutes ago recorded video. Why time boundaries are based on time of phone ?
Wyze firmware is a mess. These cameras used to work properly but now, it’s unclear when and if they record movement, how to set the timezone easily and if you start and stop the cameras automatically, that they may or may not do that consistently.
You can manually set the time of the phone and hope that resyncing the remote cameras actually set the correct local time. But it’s trial and many errors to fix that.
I don’t think that the timezone has anything to do with recording, but it appears to be lazy firmware “testing.”
I’m having this issue as well. All my V1 outdoor cams are one hour behind, while the V3s are just fine. pressed the sync button, reinstalled the app. and it still not fixed
I am having the problem also. One 2 wyze cams, one is the Pan V3 and Cam V3. The time is 3 hrs earlier then the actual time. I synced on on the app and it is still not the time that is on my phone. I guess it doesn’t really matter until you need to prove what time something happened and the time stamp on the video is wrong. Just annoys me that something as simple as having the correct time is screwed up. No way to fix this?
I guess we just have to live with the time being wrong on our cams. I guess I will buy a different company’s camera next time. I have had cams from a few different companies and never had problems or they solved my problems.
And not only is the ability to set the time, in different zones, complicated and trial and error, the cameras don’t reliably stop and start monitoring plus the do-not-monitor recording zones don’t work.
For example, I’ve set the recording zone to one square far away from any activity. The cameras with the latest firmware record as if the zone feature is switched off.
