It would be great to add a setting for the humidity reading that is already on the thermostat, to control the air conditioner to run longer (to a maximum temperature differential), with an additional function to turn on the air conditioner based on humidity level.
Future Request Wyze Thermostat
Hi all,
I would like to have this function also with the Wyze thermostat.
Over cooling.
Here in the south this function is extremely necessary when the temperature in the house is below the set but the humidity in the house rises above a certain value.
Other manufacturers offer this function.
As an example:
What is dehumidification and how does it work? | Sensi US.
I agree and it is a needed feature that Wyze could easily implement to help those in high humidity (almost all areas east of the Rockies) areas. This feature is Coast to Cool in reverse (compressor runs after fan shut off) so it is only software. It allows the cold evaporator to collect humidity where it will then drain off. It can run after every cooling demand if the humidity level is above threshold. This is almost a basic feature that would be valuable to many Wyze users. Unfortunately, those on the west coast don’t know about the feature. Do your homework Wyze, this is a good one!
Thank you for your comment.
Nobody really seems to be interested. Be it out of ignorance or because nobody knows these old rotary air humidity switches anymore. They are often still hanging in the older houses in FL.
Personally, I can live with @Wyze creating a way to realize this, e.g. by rule. Like “if thermostat or a sensor reports humidity above 75% then start AC and cool to 2 degrees below setting”. Can’t be that difficult. After all, there are enough other rules for unimportant things.
Never mind. I no longer install Wyze thermostats for customers. After all, others have the “Over Cooling” or “Cool To Dry” function and this is important here to protect against mold.
