The absolute most bizarre malfunction I have ever seen

I have several of the original bulbs. I recently moved, and the two that went into my office ceiling fixture suddenly stopped…working properly. I can reset them, connect to them, add & rename them as normal. Wyze app shows that they’re on, yet I can do NOTHING else with them. Can’t adjust the brightness (they’re showing at 1% when they’re in fact at 100%), color temp, OR turn them off. Here’s the kicker- when I turn them off at the switch, THE APP STILL SAYS THEY’RE ON. Huh?!?

I have removed and re-added them multiple times. App shows no signal strength once they’re added (even though it says they’re on), and also that firmware is up to date. Another strange thing is, a few times, they have spontaneously reset themselves (both together, and a few times just one) for NO reason- just started pulsing while the light was on.

I have a feeling that maybe somehow the fixture killed my bulbs? Because these are the only two (out of five) that this has happened to. I also noticed that sometimes when I turn them on, they turn on as dim for a second and then bump up to 100%.

Did support offer clues or a replacement?

Bulb warranty is good up to three years.

Sometimes they can put an engineer on the case.

I definitely got them more than 3 years ago…

Bummer. I was in the same situation but @WyzeDesmond was able to help.

Have you tried clearing the cache and app data or uninstalling and reinstalling the app? I’ve had some wonky things fixed trying that, like the app got stuck.

I don’t think the fixtures are to blame. Search the forum. I seem to recall many other having connectivity issues with the bulbs, both white and color.

Hi @WhiteWolf I’ve had the same type of failure with Wyze bulbs in an enclosed fixture. The electronics overheat so yea, “. . the fixture killed my bulbs” is likely.

That must be the reason I lost two LED candelabra bulbs on my front porch. I replaced them with incandescent bulbs.

Those candelabra with enclosed rating are hard to find in LED. LED Decorative Light Bulbs with a Candelabra (E12) Base For Enclosed Fixtures | Bulbs.com
With few exception, there are no longer tungsten, fluorescent or HID lamps for sale in CA.

Thanks for the link. I may try again once I exhaust my supply of incandescent candelabra bulbs.

I am having the same issue with my 2019 Bulb
Changed internet service, Camara connected no problem, but all three of my bulbs will not.
Has the issue been resolved, any tips.
Thanks

I experienced that with the old bulbs. They never function as they did at first once they reach this state. (it all in the server).I had moved mine and tried to get them back on the network with no luck I guess it is a way to gently move them obsolescence. Now you can fork over more cash and buy the new ones…

Hi deborahjones40 and welcome to the Wyze Community forum.
Not sure what ‘same issue’ as many were listed in this thread.
To set up the bulbs first reset by turning the bulb On/Off three times. It should be flashing and waiting for install.
Select the bulb to install from your Wyze app. Be sure you have blue-tooth enabled and phone on your 2.4GHz WiFi connection.

I seem to remember the 2019 v1 bulbs didnt require bluetooth. The created a temporary network to connect to. Mine also would not reconnect to the network. Seems most of the v1 bulbs are having this issue.

For the price I paid, I was lucky they worked as long as they did. They do offer a 3-year warranty.

The latest bulbs from Wyze work much better. I also bought two Kasa color bulbs in the mean time. Those work good as well.

I agree, like the new ones+++. My orig 19’s are still working fine & I’ve moved a couple over to another network. I seem to remember the blue-tooth was only for the initial setup, not operational.
You may be correct though. My brain isn’t working same as it used to. . . .

Maybe, but my brain got a year older yesterday.

It’s not enclosed at all.

Create a ticket. I did, and they were willing to replace/credit as long as I had proof of purchase. Sadly, I do not.

You probably thought of this, but just in case…

Amazon, Wyze and Home Depot tracks your previous purchases. That is how I found my proof after four years.
