Hello. I am struggling with connecting a new Pan Cam to T Mobile home internet. I believe I have already created a second WIFI at 2.4HZ. I’ve tried setting that network to WPA/WPA2. Encryption on TKIP & AES. I still cannot get the camera to connect. I do not think its too far away, maybe 28 foot from gateway. Any thoughts?
It may not help, but have you tried moving the camera closer to the T-Mobile gateway (at least temporarily)?
For setup, from your phone/tablet, turn off mobile data and turn on WiFi to force your phone/tablet to be on the same local network as your cam. If using a VPN, turn it off for setup. If your 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands share the same name (SSID), try temporarily disabling the 5GHz band on your router/gateway.
Yea I read this morning about the same local network. Last night when I tried all this, my phone was still on the 5Ghz band, even though I had made a 2.4 Ghz. I will try phone on 2.4 Ghz tonight
I’m also going to move it closer to gateway, as suggested, just to see. Plus everytime I try to connect I have to climb a ladder to push the setup button and scan the QR code! So if nothing, else, I can save that effort.
Make sure you disable mobile data on your phone to force all setup interaction to use local WiFi.
Also, I’m not familiar with your T-Mobile setup, but if your router/gateway is using cellular vs hardwire (coax/broadband, fiber, phone line, etc.) to reach out to the Internet, log in to your router/gateway and check APN protocol setting. It may default to IPv6. Wyze currently does not support IPv6 and requires IPv4. If your only choices are IPv6 and IPv6 transitional (IPv4/IPv6), choose the latter.
And just to make sure we’re on the same page, are you setting your Cam Pan v3 up for 1st time or was it previously set up on a different network? If you’re going through the cam setup process (you pressed the Reset button on the cam), at what point did setup fail? What error message, if any, did you see?
It worked. At first I just connected my phone phone to the 2.4 network, and that didnt work. So I move the whole thing near the gateway, and I also hard reset the gateway. So I did two things at once, which I dont like to do. But anyways, after that, it hooked right up. So I think it was the reset. Also, my gateway uses cellular, and I could not find a place to mess with APN even if I wanted to. I did log on to the gateway on a laptop with Chrome. But its working, thanks so much everyone!
That’s great news! Thank you for taking the time post your success!
I’m planning on switching to T-Mobile Internet and I’m trying to research if Wyze cameras will connect. I have V2s, V3s, OGs, Outdoor V1s … Is it working for you?
T-Mobile Internet should work fine. Maybe Google knows the answer. Xfinitiy and Roger’s XB7 router is definitely a problem.
I just have the one Pan Cam V3, T mobile does work for me. I have a bunch of echo dots, smart tvs, I think I have 11 devices total on it. I had to split the band for the camera, but yea so far it works.
