I have 14 Wyze Color bulbs and 3 Wyze Switches.
I have the switches set to smart control, a pair of them control 4 bulbs each and the third controls 2 bulbs (and the rest of the bulbs are lamps that I just control with my phone). From day one I was noticing that often I would have to press the switches twice to get them to turn on my bulbs and it was driving me crazy. At first I thought this issue was some type of sleep state from the switch, but I realize this weekend that it’s far more simple than that.
If you turn the bulbs on with a switch, and then turn them off via any other method (app, Google Home, voice assistant), the bulbs become out of sync with the switch because the switch has its own On/Off state. So now the bulb is off and the switch is on, and when you press the switch it turns off and sends an off command to the bulbs, which obviously does nothing since they are already off. It then takes a second press to turn them on.
This issue was reported on here all the way back in 2022 as well and was basically ignored. I cannot believe this is even an issue for a switch that is designed purely for controlling bulbs. Why is the switch state not automatically synced to the bulb state? I have now created automations to fix this myself but it should absolutely be fixed by Wyze.
