The side brush doesn’t spin anymore.
I took it apart and removed the side brush motor, manually tested it and it’s working fine, the motor is not burned out, so that’s not the problem, and I did the test while it was connected to its gear box, so that confirms the gear box is fine. I’m guessing the issue is either on the circuit board, or it’s a software thing.
Is there a sensor that stops that motor from spinning if it feels too much resistance? I’m pretty sure that at some point it had gotten bound up with some string or something, so maybe that triggered the system to quit sending power to it until it could be reset, I’m not sure if that’s plausible.
I don’t see any way to access the logs in the Wyze app, otherwise I’d review it and try to isolate the problem. I don’t see an obvious way to clear any side brush motor stop codes either.
Any advice?
P.S. It’s 5 years old, so I’m sure it’s way past the warranty, which is why I didn’t hesitate to open it up to troubleshoot.
