Suggestions for Wyze Christmas Gifts - 2024 🎄

My :eyes: Quack said I should get mine done in the near future.
I thought it was all done with laser?

That was it, I only know of general and local. So chances are I was responding to what they were telling me, but I have no recollection of what transpired ?

Went in for the preliminary check for my right eye this morning. The surgeon said the vision in my left eye had improved but since blood vessels had burst years ago due to unmonitored high blood pressure, there was little hope of improvement. The lower right quadrant of my left eye was damaged. For some reason (I am not complaining) I can see my nose looking through that eye (I have a W C Fields nose) The eye chart is still blurry other than the big E.

I have drops that MUST be used 3 times per day.

It was my decision to do both eyes, even though my left eye has issues. More of a trial run before the right eye is done. If I lose my right eye. I will be legally blind. So after the surgery on my right eye, I might not be online for a few days since I won’t be able to see clearly.

Thing is, growing up, my left eye was the dominant eye.

I had that option. Medicare would not cover the additional cost. The surgeon was confident that she could do the surgery manually and kinda talked me out of the laser method.

BTW, did I mention she is pretty?

That’s correct. That kind of conscious sedation (similar to what one might experience during colonoscopy, though I don’t know about the underwater variety), tends to produce anterograde amnesia, which means that you’re technically “awake” and can respond to some degree, but you don’t really form memories of what happens while you’re under the influence of the medication. It’s a helpful state to put someone in under certain clinical conditions because it reduces anxiety (and potential combativeness, if that’s an issue); unfortunately, that effect has been abused by some people in the past (such as with flunitrazepam, which isn’t the drug’s fault; it’s the user), so it’s important to have trusted care and supervision in such a state.

It should bounce back pretty quickly, especially if that’s the “good” eye and you have an uncomplicated procedure. You might be surprised. :crossed_fingers:

At least your vision’s good enough to appreciate that!

Not all, at least not as I understand it (and I’m not an ophthalmologist). I’m aware of laser-assisted cataract surgery, but that still involves phacoemulsification and a lens implant like the traditional surgery.

Cataracts will grow overtime and may cause issues if addressed later than sooner.

As a retired mechanic, I preached preventive maintenance. In the long run it will cost you less, and help to avoid a breakdown (blindness)

Honestly, I only felt the little little stick of the needle in my arm and a little scratchiness in that eye for a few hours. I am going for the second cataract in a few weeks and am not stressed at all.

Cut and paste lenses. :slightly_smiling_face:

Going over everything that has been worked on my body. Gawd I’m busted. But like they say about going to the grave in a well preserved body whereas I will go in the grave sliding sideways, body all worn out, saying “woo what a ride!”

When I was about 16 had chronic ingrown toenails on my big toes. After 4 visits to a foot doctor, plenty of smelling salts to wake me up because I passed out over the pain, I had the roots cut out. I was wide awake for that. Wasn’t bad except he was showing his assistant what a nerve looked like. She couldn’t see it so the £_5]€+* poked it with his scalpel. The nerve wasn’t affected by the shots. She says “oh, that purple thing?” :flushed:

Had to keep my feet elevated for a few days.
