Stolen Camera V3

Hey @carverofchoice do you know if this has been addressed by Wyze?

I know that this information has been received by Wyze (from me in good detail, and very convincingly if I do say so myself) and that there have been internal discussions.

Other than that, I cannot speak for Wyze about what they will do about it, nor can I say a timeline. Even if I knew (which I don’t), that would be on them to decide when and if to divulge any action plan or timeline publicly. At this time I can only tell you that my [thorough] report was received and shared and discussed.

Though I do feel optimistic, and it is my OPINION that it will likely receive a resolution. But again, I don’t work for, speak for, or represent them, and I have not been included in such discussions nor what they plan to do (or not do).

That is what I meant, I should’ve worded my question differently. I would never expect you to speak or represent Wyze in any way, shape or form.

The reason I asked is that I know you said that you will expedite the information to Wyze.

Thank you for everything you do for all the users on this forum and I’m sorry for not wording my question properly.

You worded it fine. I didn’t think you would misunderstand. I often like to clarify for other observers in my responses because I am very aware that other people may read into my responses and not be as aware as you are what my role is. I do this just to be sure nobody else casually reading through for the first time misinterprets my response as has happened many times in the past (ie: I have seen people quote my responses on Reddit or other places as though I am an employee or something, and I like to make it clear that I am not).

So that part was not directed at you specifically, my friend. I knew you would understand.

Need to do same ASAP, replace dozen plus Wyze cams, close out Acct. Any leads on replacment companies you have found that maintain THE core security function, reliably gives you video of event before camera was disabled, stolen?
Have a dozen plus Wyze Cams that are now trash, must be replaced, Sadly, due to failures at Wyze, best Wyze cam use now likely used as dummy cams or remote auto on off night IR lights for functional cameras. Proliferation of jammers may make this the time to convert to POE/ NVR. Leave Wyze cams up as dummys. Worst of all, I now have to eat crow, call a dozen plus other neighbors I referred to Wyze and tell them all their Wyze cams, Cam Plus accounts are all compromised, fatal flaw, Wyze knew about this, didn’t notify, did not fix . worst of all , asked to put this recycled problem on a wish list to fix. You are correct, only reasonable solution, eat humble crow and bail, cut your losses.

One v3 camera I have with cam plus, someone disconnected power to the camera, I expected to go to events to see what happen, nothing just some images no videos while there was motion? What a joke…

I have pointed this out before; incomplete uploads are not kept by Wyze. It should and this is a good reason. The power likely was disconnected while uploading the video (which probably shows the culprit) and so the upload was terminated. The incomplete video is discarded.

Wonder if the SD card would capture it?

Most users still don’t see the value of SD cards and some don’t even know how to use them; notice how many think the button ā€œPlaybackā€ streams the cloud footage.

So who gets the blame for failed uploads? The frequency of which this is encountered is more than minimal. My network? The camera? Wyze AWS servers? Data encryption? Combination of some or all of them at any given video transfer?

It’s not important who gets blamed for the failed upload. It’s much more important to save the partial upload. And Wyze doesn’t do that.

No video clips in the events for many minutes before power disconnect (some disconnect the power) no videos just images what a junk…

No clips for the time before disconnect in microsd too, these cameras could be used as toys not for monitoring something and also paying for it completely junk…

It depends on what model of camera it is and whether it’s a new Wyze account or not. If it’s a V4 then it was clear for a long time that Cam Plus Lite is not part of the deal; can’t blame Wyze for that. Can’t you just return your V4?

The new policy of new accounts not afforded Cam Plus Lite for V3 cameras, that’s a little grey area. I didn’t see that policy change announcement.

Understand. Don’t you need to determine the source to fix it. What if it happened between the camera (your network) and AWS, what is there to save? Is this a distinction without a difference to you as long as some video was generated if only 1kb of data?

I hear your argument, I guess I’m playing devil’s advocate. I’m as frustrated and disappointed as everyone at Wyze’s continuing failures, but with 30 plus cameras, can’t just drop out and start over with another brand. Now that I think about it, that’s exactly what Wyze is counting on.

Bought the cams when they first came out, at the time you got about a 10-15 second video clip of activity that was store in the cloud, then it was decided that that was a legacy privilege, now nothing if you dont subscribe to a monthly service

That was the main reason I went with Wyze. I still enjoy my cheap cams.

Between myself and all the other homes, I had a role in getting Wyze cams into, we likely have 25 Wyze Cams.

Simply adding a Cam Plus add on benefit, that requires the Cam Plus member to release their Wyze Cams in their cam plus group before criminals can delete footage of their crimes against the Cam Plus member, and the camera can be added to another account would solve the problem.

Asking us to put a defect Wyze recycled on the wish list is like telling Cam Plus members to GFY.

@larryg7 - I think you have presented valid and constructive comments, but it seems like you have become hostile with this issue. You have reached some very excellent forum contributors that can bring this to Wyze. This will not be fixed overnight. Between you and other homes 25 cams, I have over 30 alone. Not all active at once but rotated in and out on occasions.

Civility and calm works wonders on blood pressure.
