Squirrel Ricochets off the window

I saw him on the bird feeding table, so I tapped something on the window and…

I give him an 8 for the landing.

Ha. I was as startled as he was, haha.

I put up a tray with seeds to keep the squirrels off the hanging feeders. But if the seeds are gone or there is more 1 tree rat, I’ll see them raiding the tube feeders.

Here is a clip of one when tapped on the window.

Good deal. I do have a little mini picnic table by the tree for them. But I don’t have anything in it. I have pecans that I threo out to them and a squirrel would come to the window looking for me but never ate from the table. I think this one(s) is one of the offspring.

And the few squirrels I popped with a pellet gun jumped like that. Once. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I removed the tray of sunflower seeds a month ago and have had zero squirrels since.

Bahaha. That’s about what he was doing. I though about getting something without the sunflower seeds, but he was eating the peanuts, too. I will probably get a back of peanuts and put them in the little picnic table tray for him. I threw out pecans in the shells and he kept burying them.

Now I know where the creators of Bullwinkle and Rocky The Flying Squirrel got their idea for their show. Thanks for sharing.

Soupy Sales

Felix the cat and his wonderful bag of tricks. : )

I seem to remember a ‘soapy sales’ also but I can find nothing about him.

Tree rats. I took out 9 trees in a tree rat defense to keep them off my 26 ft off the ground deck from above, They then came up from below to raid the hanging bird feeders. I have 6x6 post so no squirrel guards existed. I got 8 inch stove pipe and caps and made 24 inch “floating” selves just under the deck. I wish I recorded the squirrels trying to outsmart the sleeves for about a week - I won. My wife says “you must be proud out engineering a rodent” - I said, probably my greatest triumph. The good news, the neighbors now have my share of the area squirrels. They ate some wiring about 25 years ago at our FL house after a hurricane blew their nest down, and a week later ate two wiring harnesses in our neighbors car costing them 3k in one and the other totaled due to catching fire in their car port, that was my end of them being “cute”. But lately we have a tiny black one visiting the front yard and he’s kinda cool and as long as he stays away from the house he can stay.

Wow. Good for you for fizing the problem. I have the bird table sitting on a atack of garden bins. I’m thinking of just holding it up with shelving things, but they can climb up the side of the house on the old gravelly shingles.

Don’t forget Mr. Moose!

Oh my gosh. I couldn’t stand Capt Kangaroo. :squinting_face_with_tongue:

I love to see an image of your “outsmart” engineering! Squirrels are cute but they take over everything!

Ha, yeah. Well youd just be seeing a shot of an empty feeding station because I took the auto feeder inside. While I’m away. I have footage of the squirrel biting the menu screen box clean off the feeder and left it dangling on the wiring. I was able to put it back, though. The birds can survive without it for awhile.
I went back to Calif because my mother has been in the hospital and this may be my last visit.
