We regularly got vehicles towed in for critter damage. Chewed wiring, huge nests, mounds of dog food in the air cleaner box, in the space where the cabin filter goes. Several times they chewed through plastic fuel lines. Every fuel injected vehicle has residual fuel pressure so the fuel is right at the injector at startup. When the critter chews through the plastic, they get a mouthful of pressurized fuel.
