Speakers on PanCam v3

Own 2 PanCam v3 and sound coming out of the speakers when spoken is way to soft. Also sometimes not understood. Question…how to raise volume on these cameras?

If you’re asking about controlling volume for two-way audio (specifically, the part where you might talk to a person or pet from your phone through your camera), then I’m not aware of any way to do that. The only volume control I’ve seen for Cam Pan v3 is when it’s selected as an accessory chime for the Video Doorbell v2’s “Cameras as Chime” feature, where there’s a volume slider for the doorbell sound.

Remember that you are talking about a speaker with the driver about the size of the driver in a pair of small headphones. There’s only so much you can get out of such a small driver. It works in a headphone because the driver is less than an inch from your eardrum. Welcome to physics.

Just for grins, I played with the audio on a Cam Pan v3 and a Cam v4 that I have in the same room, talking to each through my phone using the app. The Cam v4 has noticeably better audio output. There’s no comparison.

I remembered reading about this before in a Help Center article:

Our favorite Wyze Cam v4 features:

  • Louder and Clearer Audio. New and more powerful, the amplifier increases the volume to 99 db and the mic can pick up sound even farther away.

I also recalled being impressed with the quality when I watched a video on YouTube comparing it with Tapo C120 (I happen to have one of those, as well).

Cam v4 also does not have any sort of volume control of which I’m aware. I mention it only because you seem to indicate that the audio is important to you, and I think it’s a superior product if you can use a stationary (non-pan) camera for whatever your application might be. Occasionally you can find these on sale (which is how I acquired mine).

I’m not shilling Wyze. I just like their products and enjoy trying to help others in the Forum.

Yelling really close to your phone’s microphone is the only way to increase the output of the camera speaker. There may be an app or setting in your phone you can use to increase your microphone gain (each phone is different, and over time the mic gets dirty too). As others have said, these cams aren’t designed to be a public address system, it is a tiny speaker facing backwards.
