I just connected the solar panel to one of my OD v1 cams. It is doing good, charged up from 70% to 100% in 6 or 7 hours of direct sunlight. My question is should I occasionally turn off the solar panel and let the battery drain down and then charge it up again to keep the battery healthy?
The batteries in the Outdoor Cam are Lithium-ion batteries, and thus have no “memory effect”. The battery chemistry that had a lot of trouble with memory effect was the Ni-Cad type.
So, just leave the solar panel plugged in.
